I was considering making and designing my own snowboard for Construction class in school. One part (probably the most important) is designing the graphic on the board. For me I find that drawing, painting or whatever is the easy part. The part that takes me months is to come up with the idea. How should I do it?

I am building a device that could treat a certain disease….so how do I formulate a hypothesis?
Also, I’m not really sure how to collect numerical data, because it is a device …I need help lol sorry I am in high school. And how do I keep on journal for my project? What should I write inside of it??

I’m sorry if these questions may seem stupid, but this is my first engineering project and I have no guidance.

This is all rather vague.
Your journal should directly record everything you do related to the project.
If you want numerical data, you must devise some measurement that will produce numbers. There should be two at least: some measure of the application of your device, and some measure of the results.
The routine hypothesis to test is whether or not your process had an effect, hopefully beneficial. For this, you will need to be able to compare one bunch with treatment, and another bunch without the treatment, and look to see if there is a significant difference between the two groups.

this is for a design project in which i am making a rat cage. if you have any knowledge or experience in keeping rats or similar animals then please complete this survey… please include as much detail as possible

1) how much space would you be willing to dedicate to a home for your pet?

2) what features do you feel are important for a rat cage to include (e.g. health / safety / exercise / food or water related)?

3) are there any common design flaws in existing products that you think could be improved on?

4) what materials do you find are the easiest to clean?

5) if your pet’s home could look like anything(!) then what would you like it to look like and what colours would you choose?

I have a guinea pig ^^

1) My guinea pig’s cage takes 9 tissue boxes to cover up the whole cage floor. The bigger the cage is, the better it is. Oh, and no wire floors please! It can hurt their little feet. You might not need to take it out for exercise (running around your room) that often if you have a big rat cage.

2) I think a rat cage should include a wheel (I’m not sure if rat use wheels too because I don’t own rats), food bowl, hiding house, water bottle, and bedding.

3) I would make him his own big room with lots of his guinea pig friends and of course, his whole entire room walls/floor will be dark blue! That’d be awesome.

I have designed a certain invention that I would like to patent soon but don’t have the funding. Would it be stupid to go on Kickstarter.com and post this project before I get legal rights to it so I could then get the proper funding to patent it?

In the U.S., publication of your invention on a website will start a one-year clock in which to file for patent protection. After the one-year clock has past, you will lose any rights to the invention.

This one year grace period is limited to the U.S. and a few other countries. Most foreign countries have an absolute bar. That is, once you disclose your invention on a website, you will immediately lose any rights to your invention in those countries.
