Question by laura: What’s up with all these stupid celebrity questions all of a sudden?

They come on here and ask stupid questions that they already know the answer to or something about politics that there really isn’t an answer for. They ask one question and never come back, never answer anyone else’s questions, never post any official questions that aren’t designed to make them look good or make them look like they care about what the general public has to say. Does anyone else think this is stupid?

Interior Design… Develop Portfolio??

Question by Michelle B: Interior Design… Develop Portfolio??

I’ve recently decided to change my major to interior design and the college im planning on attending requires a portfolio review..
How do i go about developing a portfolio? i feel so stupid for having to ask something like this, but o well..

I plan on calling and getting more information..

is the portfolio going to be based off work i do in the college art classes?
i’m starting to get really nervous about this bc i feel so inexperienced but other ppl are in the same place right? we’re not already expected to know EVERYTHING..

Best answer:

Answer by Andrew L
Your last paragraph is right on. The reviewers of the portfolio are looking to see what kind of person you are as an artist. Put in past and current work that you think best represents the creative person you are or want to be and you’ll do just fine. No one is expecting you to have interior design work in your portfolio, especially if you are an undergraduate.

Don’t worry. Everyone else is in the same boat, and the reviewers will appreciate seeing work from non-interior design classes. Think about the experience you want the portfolio readers to have when they are reviewing your work. Make sure the layout is clean and clear. Think about page size, etc. Plan ahead…figure out where you’re going to print it, what kind of paper is best, and so on.

If humans are created via intelligent design, why are we so flawed?

Question by Nice guy: If humans are created via intelligent design, why are we so flawed?

Supposedly humans are the crown of creation. However, if one compares humans with animals, the only component that sticks out is our brain. In all other aspects, our body is at best mediocre compared to animals. Our senses are not well developed and even if we train them we never get close to most animals. Our immune system is crap; animals are on average much healthier that we are and we even have doctors to keep certain trouble away from us. Our skeleton is not made for upright walking and brings us back pain and other trouble with great regularity. Even our brain is not well designed since we only use a fraction of it. Among humans, good design requires talent and experience and a deep understanding of the nature of the object to be designed. Supposedly God, if infinite, should have all of these traits without limits. However, if we humans are the product of intelligent design by a God, then it appears to me that the result is mediocre at best. Take the human eye. Often cited as evidence for intelligent design, even we humans have come up with artificial eyes that are far superior to the human eye. So if we supposedly are evidence for intelligent design, my respect for the designer has just dropped a notch. As I designer, I would try to use the best components for my design, and not just for one part of it, unless I have a restricted budget.

Nokia N97 Flash Flooding Problem: Easy Fix!

This is the easiest way to fix the Nokia N97’s flash flooding problem. All you need is a black permanent marker pen with a fine nib and that’s it! The principle, is that this stops the light from the flash entering the glass covering the camera and thus stopping the flash flooding problem. It really works, and it saved my pictures!!

Pet Food Recalled Amid Reports Of Pet Deaths
Cats, Dogs Suffered Kidney Failure

POSTED: 9:09 pm CDT March 16, 2007
UPDATED: 9:38 pm CDT March 16, 2007

A major manufacturer of dog and cat food sold under Wal-Mart, Safeway, Kroger and other store brands recalled 60 million containers of wet pet food Friday after reports of kidney failure and deaths.

An unknown number of cats and dogs suffered kidney failure and about 10 died after eating the affected pet food, Menu Foods said in announcing the North American recall. Product testing has not revealed a link explaining the reported cases of illness and death, the company said.

“At this juncture, we’re not 100 percent sure what’s happened,” said Paul Henderson, the company’s president and chief executive officer. However, the recalled products were made using wheat gluten purchased from a new supplier, since dropped for another source, spokeswoman Sarah Tuite said. Wheat gluten is a source of protein.

The recall covers the company’s “cuts and gravy” style food, which consists of chunks of meat in gravy, sold in cans and small foil pouches between Dec. 3 and March 6 throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

The pet food was sold by stores operated by the Kroger Company, Safeway Inc., Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and PetSmart Inc., among others, Henderson said.

Menu Foods did not immediately provide a full list of brand names and lot numbers covered by the recall, saying they would be posted on its Web site — www.menufoods.com/recall — early Saturday. Consumers with questions can call (866) 463-6738.

The company said it manufacturers for 17 of the top 20 North American retailers. It is also a contract manufacturer for the top branded pet food companies, including Procter & Gamble Co.

P&G announced Friday the recall of specific 3 oz., 5.5 oz., 6 oz. and 13.2 oz. canned and 3 oz. and 5.3 oz. foil pouch cat and dog wet food products made by Menu Foods but sold under the Iams and Eukanuba brands. The recalled products bear the code dates of 6339 through 7073 followed by the plant code 4197, P&G said.

Menu Foods’ three U.S. and one Canadian factory produce more than 1 billion containers of wet pet food a year. The recall covers pet food made at company plants in Emporia, Kan., and Pennsauken, N.J., Henderson said.

Henderson said the company received an undisclosed number of owner complaints of vomiting and kidney failure in dogs and cats after they had been fed its products. It has tested its products but not found a cause for the sickness.

“To date, the tests have not indicated any problems with the product,” Henderson said.

The company alerted the Food and Drug Administration, which already has inspectors in one of the two plants, Henderson said. The FDA was working to nail down brand names covered by the recall, agency spokesman Mike Herndon said.
