“Various Toys Recalled by CBB Group Due to Choking Hazard and Violation of Lead Paint Standard
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of product: Fishing Games, Rattles, Pull-A-Long Cars, Mini Pull Back Cars, and Cartoon Bubble Guns
Units: About 39,000
Importer/Distributor: CBB Group Inc., City of Commerce, Calif.
Hazard: The fishing games, baby rattles and pull-a-long cars contain small parts, which can detach and pose a choking hazard to children. The mini pull back cars and bubble guns have surface paints which contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.”
This is CRAZY..Shouldn’t they have more testing on toys like this?? What are your thoughts on the crazy amounts of lead in our child(s) toys??

How would I counter an argument about the failures of genetic engineering in humans?
Question by Somebody: How would I counter an argument about the failures of genetic engineering in humans?
I am doing a health debate for my health class, and I was assigned Pro genetic engineering in humans. I have all my information and refutes down, but I still do not know how I am going to counter when the other team brings up the failures of genetic engineering.
For example:
Other Team: You say that with genetic enginering, the whole world could be cured of disease. Considering that out of 238 human subjects, 34 had serious side effects afterwards, and only 4 subjects were deemed successful. If we were to branch off and focus more on genetic engineering, our population would significantly decrease with unsucessful tests like these.
What would I say to counter that?

Answer by Eric
Genetic engineering is still in early stages of study.
We are not even close to finished with research in this field, and given some time, we will have improved these tests.
We normally only run these tests on terminally ill patients, and these kinds of tests give subjects a chance at a better life, even if there is a chance of adverse side effects.

No, going to college isn’t stupid. It’s arguably an even better idea if you don’t know where to start. Graphic design is 80% imagination and creativity. Going to college can give you many things, including a degree, a foot in the door, and a good tool set that you can use in your career.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is advising owners of the strollers to stop using them and to contact Maclaren to receive a free repair kit—a zippered fabric cover that prevents a child from inserting his or her finger into the hinges. Maclaren can be contacted at 877-688-2326 or by visiting the firm’s Web site at www.maclaren.us/recall.

Stupid Engineering question about foundation design…?
Question by madaznfootballer: Stupid Engineering question about foundation design…?
in foundation design where I have to use continuous footing, is that adequate enough to have just continuous footings with rebar around the all the walls of a 2 story commercial structure…or am i missing some other necessary components (i.e. slab on grade, spread footings, etc…)….sorry i’m new at this…
Best answer:
Answer by jay13178
There’s nothing wrong with a continuous footing around a 2 story structure. If you have columns inside you’ll need pads for those as well of course. A slab on grade would work also, as long as you’re not in an area that freezes. I don’t know what your exterior walls are like, but if they’re light, like metal siding, you could even just attach them to columns and use spread footers at the columns. I assume though that it’s probably the typical masonry facade with a wood or steel stud wall making up the real structure. I would probably go with the strip footer like you indicated, for simplicity and low cost.

Q&A: Does everyone know about product recall in the USA – E. Coli Virus?
Question by kja63: Does everyone know about product recall in the USA – E. Coli Virus?
Just want to make sure that everyone heard about the E Coli virus in packaged raw spinach. Do NOT eat any of it!
They have yet to pinpoint a specific growing region, grower, brand or supplier. This is a nationwide alert.
Oops! You are right. E. Coli is a bacteria not a virus! Thank you 🙂
