Q&A: design project: survey of pet rat cages?
Question by *angel of your lesbian fantasies: design project: survey of pet rat cages?
this is for a design project in which i am making a rat cage. if you have any knowledge or experience in keeping rats or similar animals then please complete this survey… please include as much detail as possible
1) how much space would you be willing to dedicate to a home for your pet?
2) what features do you feel are important for a rat cage to include (e.g. health / safety / exercise / food or water related)?
3) are there any common design flaws in existing products that you think could be improved on?
4) what materials do you find are the easiest to clean?
5) if your pet’s home could look like anything(!) then what would you like it to look like and what colours would you choose?
6) anything else? if you feel there’s anything i haven’t covered then please tell me…

Don’t worry, I’m going to answer your question! 😀
I have a guinea pig ^^
1) My guinea pig’s cage takes 9 tissue boxes to cover up the whole cage floor. The bigger the cage is, the better it is. Oh, and no wire floors please! It can hurt their little feet. You might not need to take it out for exercise (running around your room) that often if you have a big rat cage.
2) I think a rat cage should include a wheel (I’m not sure if rat use wheels too because I don’t own rats), food bowl, hiding house, water bottle, and bedding.
3) I would make him his own big room with lots of his guinea pig friends and of course, his whole entire room walls/floor will be dark blue! That’d be awesome.
Hope I helped, at least a little 🙂

Q&A: If i wanted to get a large tattoo and i know the exact design, could i simply ask an artist to do it?

I know my last question was pretty stupid with the legal thing, i hope this is more legitimate.

Yes. If you know the exact design, take it to a good tattoo place and ask them to do it. They may tweak it a bit so that it will look good when it’s actually on you.

*** Valco Ion Stroller (MAJOR DESIGN FLAW !!!)
We took our baby out for a walk with the Valco Ion baby stroller, and on the 5th time, when suddenly, the stroller collapsed!!! Luckily I was able to hold the stroller when it happened so it did not totally tip over with our baby in it. My wife quickly took our 3 month out of the stroller while I was holding the stroller from tipping over. Took the stroller home and this is the defect that I have found… it appears the clipping mechanism at the base wore off and it no longer locks the bracket in place, major design flaw!!! Imagine this happened to your stroller when you are crossing a major intersection, or entering/exiting an elevator or worse, a subway train?

Arnie Gundersen, chief nuclear engineer from Fairewinds and Associates explains the venting design flaw in Fukushima and other nuclear plants. Arnie Gundersen explains how containment vents were added to the GE Mark 1 BWR as a “band aid” 20 years after the plants built in order to prevent an explosion of the notoriously weak Mark 1 containment system. Obviously the containment vent band aid fix did not work since all three units have lost containment integrity and are leaking radioactivity. Gundersen also discusses seismic design flaws, inadequate evacuation planning, and the taxpayer supported nuclear industry liability fund. Q&A: Is there a software program or website for correcting (not just spotting) xhtml errors in website design?
Question by Anne R: Is there a software program or website for correcting (not just spotting) xhtml errors in website design?
I’ve used online validators to identify the errors in my site, but I’m looking for something that can actually correct them. Thanks.

Well, the computer can’t know what you mean if you don’t write valid code… If you want it to /guess/, see HTML Tidy (http://tidy.sourceforge.net/). Again, sometimes it will guess wrong and sometimes it won’t know what the problem is.

Can anyone tell me any design flaws of Zeppelin airships?
Question by El Matador: Can anyone tell me any design flaws of Zeppelin airships?
My brother and I are attempting to design a very special class of Zeppelin, but I don’t want to give away too many details out of fear of someone ripping us off. However, before we can do anything, we need to try to perfect the design of the Zeppelin itself and It’s rather difficult to find anything online. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What features would you want from a lighting design?
Question by Ewen: What features would you want from a lighting design?
If you work in an office environment (or can imagine working in an office environment!), what would you want from the lighting that you use on a daily basis? This could be in the form of mechanical features, or simply what kind of artificial light source you want.
Please take time to answer this question. I would really like all your thoughts, even if you think they may sound stupid. Any input is valuable to me.
Cheers

Dimmers are always a nice feature to have 🙂
Or you can go with those artificial sunlight lights. Those supposedly keep peoples moods a little more elevated…(which especially in a cubical setting could be a great thing)
Just no florescent lighting!!! That will drive people insane!

HP Pavilion DM4 Notebook – Power Button Design Flaw!
HP Pavilion DM4 — Amazing!!! Major design flaw! Power button does not sit flush, so you can turn the power button on and off by exerting pressure on the outside of? the computer lid right above where the power button sits. This may be a major design flaw in the laptop. My computer turns on and off when I carry it in my backpack… Still waiting to hear back from HP on how they plan on fixing this issue, which may be a design issue and not simply isolated to one computer.

2nd reason I dislike Apple & the Mac : The UI is IMHO wrong. In many ways it has not gotten over its basic design flaws that go all the way back to 1984. And until recently Windows was staying true to its 1985 UI roots. Linux has surpassed both in this area , and unlike both Windows & Mac OS X, it lets its user choose which base UI design they want to use.
