product recall
by Chaymation

Question by bobbo: Product recall GE gas dryer igniter?

We bought a GE gas dryer from Sears in 2004. We have already replaced the igniter twice . We used Sears repair and they are very expensive and always require two trips. Now the igniter is not working again. It seems like a faulty product to us. Any one else have this problem?
Thanks for the response (from sonnyb). It is so true that companies make it impossible to get a response to a complaint. No address, no phone number for a responsible person, and a web “contact” that is useless for a complaint.

Question by Deborah P: Did everyone hear about the latest toy recall?

This is CRAZY..Shouldn’t they have more testing on toys like this?? What are your thoughts on the crazy amounts of lead in our child(s) toys??

Chrysler recall postcard in the mail- just a ploy to get people into the shop?

Question by Crystal Sunshine: Chrysler recall postcard in the mail- just a ploy to get people into the shop?

I received in the mail a postcard about my car having a product recall and the name of a local Chrysler shop to get the item replaced free of charge. Is this some ploy to get people into the garage so they can find other “problems” with the car or is this legit?
Hmm, true but the last thing people want to hear is a bunch of other problems with the car and it seems every time there’s a list of issues.

Best answer:

Answer by Vipassana
And how would that ploy work?

They can’t force you to do anything with your car.

So it’s not like they’re getting money out of you.

And if they find things, and you decide to ignore it, and it causes problems later….then they can just say “told you so…”

Edit: That’s funny, because when I take my cars in for repairs, I don’t get a list of issues. Because I take care of my car, and make sure there’s nothing that it could need.

What you can always do is take the car to a second mechanic, and if they give you the same list of things…..they’re not trying to get money out of you, they’re trying to get you to maintain your vehicle better.

recall Iams product code?

Question by Suzanne: recall Iams product code?

recall product code from Iams site, just copied and pasted…hope it helps!

To read can product codes, refer to the bottom of the can.
The first four numbers of the second line of numbers are
the date code, and the following four numbers indicate
the plant code.
For example, if the second line begins with four
numbers from 6339 to 7073 followed by the Plant
Code 4197, then the product should be recalled.
For foil pouches, the code numbers are located at the
lower left hand corner on the back of the pouch. The date
and plant codes appear in the third group of numbers,
beginning an 11-digit sequence.
See www.Iams.com and www.Eukanuba.com for
illustrated details or call P&G Pet Care Consumer
Relations at 1-800-882-1591.
here’s the address for cat & dog food…pls be patient.

What are the differences between Canada and the USA in terms of product recalls?

Question by Curtis M: What are the differences between Canada and the USA in terms of product recalls?

I am a Canadian student writing a paper regarding product recalls and their influence on shareholders. Many of the articles that I have come across strictly deal with US cases. I want to apply these cases to my paper; however, I will need to state the differences between the US and Canada in terms of product recalls. After doing a quick search I was unable to find any differences so I’m turning here for help!
Sources are helpful as this is an academic paper.
Thanks!

Since there are very few products distributed in Canada that are not also in the United States, Canada pretty much outsources this to the US.

There is a recall on peanut butter filling, will you throw your cookies out?

Question by San Diego Art Nut: There is a recall on peanut butter filling, will you throw your cookies out?

The FDA has issued a warning that some peanut butter filling has been contaminated. If you had any in your house would you throw it away? If it was or was not the named brands? Have you ever been affected by a product recall? What was it? How careful are you about food? Or stuff you buy in discount stores?
Orlando,
I did not know the name of the company but was not trying to panic anyone. I was more interested in whether people take these warnings seriously.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — St. Louis, Missouri, March 30, 2007 . . . Nestlé Purina PetCare Company today announced it is voluntarily recalling all sizes and varieties of its ALPO® Prime Cuts in Gravy wet dog food with specific date codes. The Company is taking this voluntary action after learning today that wheat gluten containing melamine, a substance not approved for use in food, was provided to Purina by the same company that also supplied Menu Foods. The contamination occurred in a limited production quantity at only one of Purina’s 17 pet food manufacturing facilities.

Earlier today the FDA announced the finding of melamine in products related to the March 16 Menu Foods recall, and advised Purina of the source of the contaminated supply. Purina then determined that it had received some quantity from the suspect supplier. The company proactively notified the FDA and immediately began this recall process.

Purina is confident that the contaminated wheat gluten has been isolated to this limited production quantity of ALPO Prime Cuts canned products.

The recalled 13.2-ounce and 22-ounce ALPO Prime Cuts cans and 6-, 8-, 12- and 24-can ALPO Prime Cuts Variety Packs have four-digit code dates of 7037 through 7053, followed by the plant code 1159. Those codes follow a “Best Before Feb. 2009” date. This information should be checked on the bottom of the can or the top or side of the multi-pack cartons.

Purina’s 5.3-ounce Mighty Dog® pouch products, manufactured by Menu Foods, were previously withdrawn from the market as a precaution on March 16 as part of the Menu Foods recall. ONLY Mighty Dog pouch products and specific date codes of ALPO Prime Cuts canned dog food are being recalled.

Importantly, no Purina brand dry pet foods are affected by the recall – including ALPO Prime Cuts dry. In addition, no other Purina dog food products, no Purina cat food products, Purina treat products or Purina Veterinary Diet products are included in this recall, nor have been impacted by the contaminated wheat gluten supply.

Consumers should immediately stop feeding ALPO Prime Cuts products with the above-listed date codes to their dogs and consult with a veterinarian if they have any health concerns with their pet.

Purina guarantees all of its products, and consumers can receive the full replacement value of the recalled products. Consumers can visit us at www.purina.com or call 1-800-218-5898, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CDT, to receive more information.

Purina is fully cooperating with the FDA and made the decision to voluntarily recall this product in consultation with the FDA.

At Purina, nothing is more important to us than the health and well-being of the pets whose nutrition has been entrusted to us by their owners, and we deeply regret this unfortunate situation. We will continue to take any and all actions necessary to ensure the quality and safety of our products.

That is the first Purina product in the recall. And today my vet told me that a Science Diet special diet dry food is in the recall. That is the first dry food to be a problem in this particular recall.
