Question by Generic Person: Is it safe to reuse plastic bottles for water?

I know about plastic containing carcinogens, but I recall hearing that it only applied for things under high or low temperatures. Is it safe to keep a bottle around to refill with water when I get thirsty? It is going to be left out on my desk, so no refrigeration or heat to really worry about.

As safe as re-using a plastic cup. It is good to wash them out with hot water and dish soap from time to time just to prevent bacteria.

Q&A: Whirlpool flame lock water heater recall?

product recall
by Public Citizen

Question by jasmin_flower69: Whirlpool flame lock water heater recall?

My sis in law’s maintenance guy is trying to rip her off and we were wondering, if anyone out there knows, Is this product under recall? I know the thermocoupler is supposed to be, but the recall page at the actual whirlpool site is conveniently off line.

If anyone out there could tell me if it is and if possible when it became under warranty? She just got it installed 3 months ago and they’re trying to tell her that she must have damaged it, and she must replace it, as no water heater breaks that quickly. We’re wondering if they got it cheap after the recall and are using it as a scam.

Thanks in advance!

As I understand it, the unit has a 12 year tank warranty but Whirlpool is only offering a one time replacement of the crappy thermocouple. Most Home Improvment stores are not even carrying the replacement, you have to order it.
As for the guy who refuses to repair it, he is just a lazy slug.
Installation date is what matters, not when it was made. Besides, any reputable service company stands behind anything and everything they sell. In our company, we offer a 100% money back guarantee for up to 2 years on anything we install. Simply put, if you don’t like it, you don’t keep it. Have her call a factory trained Whirlpool repairman and report the other jerk to the BBB.
Consumer reports on this particular item are nightmarish, sorry.

How do you change the water pump on a 2001 Taurus VIN “U”?

Question by mike1985x: How do you change the water pump on a 2001 Taurus VIN “U”?

I looks like it has a motor mount bolted through it, and that seems like a pretty stupid design. Do you have to block up the motor?
