If you’re concerned about any toy that may have been recalled, you should visit the homepage for the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission:
http://cpsc.gov/
Some Elmo toys were voluntarily recalled in 2007 by Fisher-Price, Inc. because of concerns about high levels of lead, however, to my knowledge the Tickle Me Elmo plush figures were never recalled.

Where and how do we return recalled Mattel Toys?
Question by Lisa M: Where and how do we return recalled Mattel Toys?
I’m angered at the way this MAttel recall is being handles, or not handled as the case may be. We own a few of those recalled Mattel toys, including the Dora Talking House and some of the figurines. I went to the Mattel site, as well as the Walmart and Toys r Us sites, and none of them have any information on what to do about the recalled toys. I saw on the national news that one can return the toys for vouchers, but how can one does not know where or how to return the toys? This is gross neglect by these companies and I’m sickened, especially when it is affecting our children’s health!.

How much money did China lose from their lead based toys recall in 2007?
Question by foxresume: How much money did China lose from their lead based toys recall in 2007?
IN 2007, several companies had to recall millions of products made in China because of lead paint being used in their manufacturing process. I’d like to know what amount of money, if any, did China lose because of this? Thank you.
Best answer:
Answer by Mr. Ron
The actual amount lost is just about impossible to project as China employs a different method of accounting than we do.
Under their communist form of government state owned companies do not have to make their financial records public.
The amount lost is probably not as much as you would think as some of the losses (actually much of it) was absorbed from the U. S. companies that do business with them.
As far as lost sales go, most American’s are still buying toys and other items stamped “Made in China” so I don’t think most people really care much about it one way or the other. Walk through a toy store today and look for “Made in America” or “Made in USA” and you won’t find too much.

Q&A: Re: Mattel Toys – How can we retain our faith in a company who has so blatantly let their customers down?!?
Question by bpgagirl22: Re: Mattel Toys – How can we retain our faith in a company who has so blatantly let their customers down?!?
Robert Eckert, chairman & CEO of Mattel, warned @ a news conference last month that there may be more recalls of tainted toys as the company steps up its investigations into its Chinese factories & retests products. Still, the latest action could be another blow to Mattel, which had cultivated an image of tightly controlling production in China. The Consumer Product Safety Comm. also said yesterday that it was considering a possible investigation of whether Mattel notified authorities as quickly as it should have in connection with the Aug. 14 recall. With more than 80 % of toys sold worldwide made in China, toy sellers are nervous that shoppers will shy away from their products during this year’s critical holiday season. Last month, Mattel vowed that it would tighten its controls at its factories in China. Q&A: Who should be blamed for the toys and other chinese product recall conundrum?
Question by voodoogirl_w: Who should be blamed for the toys and other chinese product recall conundrum?
Obviously Chinese manufactures will be blamed and punished for what had happened, and they should be. However, The US companies did make gazillion dollars because of those low-cost-high-profit cheap products. What happened to the product quality control before putting the product on the shelves? There are the Chinese government, US government, exporter, importer, the company itself, and the retail store between the Chinese manufactures and consumers.
