Question by Chem Kid: Is it typically safe to apply heat to a vacuum filtration flask, with only the sidearm left open?

I am considering distilling some 70% (mass) store-bought ethanol with a somewhat makeshift apparatus. The top is stoppered with a rubber stopper, and the sidearm is connected to some tubing which runs down a chilled receiving flask. I’d like to make sure that there isn’t some obvious flaw that I’m overlooking.

yeah it should work
maybe the rubber will get attacked by the ethanol vapors over time
maybe the tubing too depending on its material

but if you manage to get a vacuum filtration flask, why cant you get a proper laboratory condenser

How do you open a document in a browser to display it as a web page?

Question by Gemma: How do you open a document in a browser to display it as a web page?

Okay so I coded a simple HTML web page in notepad for my stupid Web Page Design Class, and now I want to know how to open it in a browser.

I already tried File – Open File – Open, but that only displays the same thing I typed in notepad, tags and all.

Have someone ever told you something so stupid, you just stared at them with your mouth wide open?

Question by GGP: Have someone ever told you something so stupid, you just stared at them with your mouth wide open?

By stupid i mean relating to God/Religion/Atheism, whatever.

I was once told that the earth was covered with a thick layered sphere of ice that, when it collapsed, caused the “Great Flood”.

Also, i once saw a video on Intelligent Design where the idiot talking said that you can spread ONE water molecule so thin that it would cover the Earth’s surface. The crowd agreed with him.
