Question by Lisa M: Where and how do we return recalled Mattel Toys?

I’m angered at the way this MAttel recall is being handles, or not handled as the case may be. We own a few of those recalled Mattel toys, including the Dora Talking House and some of the figurines. I went to the Mattel site, as well as the Walmart and Toys r Us sites, and none of them have any information on what to do about the recalled toys. I saw on the national news that one can return the toys for vouchers, but how can one does not know where or how to return the toys? This is gross neglect by these companies and I’m sickened, especially when it is affecting our children’s health!.

Question by Tonks: What are you doing about Mattel Fisher-Price recall?

My daughter received one of the Mattel products that are on the recall list for her birthday recently. The recall notice says the date code should be between 109-7LF thru 187-7LF.

The toy set she received has a date code of 017-7LF, which means it’s not up for recall. However, I still took the toy away from her because I am a bit uneasy about the possibility of lead in the product. I’ve already been affected by the Thomas train recall and am growing very concerned. Any opinions? Should I allow her to play with the supposed “non-affected” recalled product?
I believe I mentioned that someone “gave” my daughter the recalled product. I don’t make a habit of buying “Made in China.”

In the aftermath of the Mattel recall, are you changing your buying habits?

Question by jbrandtc: In the aftermath of the Mattel recall, are you changing your buying habits?

We checked out our kids’ toy box and didn’t find one of the recalled products. We were stunned to learn that 80% of the toys sold in the U.S. are manufactured in China, though.

We’re going to pay much closer attention to recall information for toys and cut back completely on food and health care products made in China.

No when i was a kid, children could play with anyhting and not get hurt. It seems that as time goes on kids are just getting hurt for the stupidest things. I think all this “ethical” and “saftey” crap is starting to make this country look like a joke. American politics has really become the laughing stock of the world.

Question by bpgagirl22: Re: Mattel Toys – How can we retain our faith in a company who has so blatantly let their customers down?!?

Robert Eckert, chairman & CEO of Mattel, warned @ a news conference last month that there may be more recalls of tainted toys as the company steps up its investigations into its Chinese factories & retests products. Still, the latest action could be another blow to Mattel, which had cultivated an image of tightly controlling production in China. The Consumer Product Safety Comm. also said yesterday that it was considering a possible investigation of whether Mattel notified authorities as quickly as it should have in connection with the Aug. 14 recall. With more than 80 % of toys sold worldwide made in China, toy sellers are nervous that shoppers will shy away from their products during this year’s critical holiday season. Last month, Mattel vowed that it would tighten its controls at its factories in China. I know that I don’t. I wonder how long that we have been getting lead tainted toys from China?

I hope to God that parents send Mattel a clear message this Christmas season that AS PARENTS we wont put up with these actions that Mattel has done.
