When you sync a blank iPod to a library filled with songs, does it erase the songs?

Question by John S: When you sync a blank iPod to a library filled with songs, does it erase the songs?

I once synced a full iPod to a blank library and it erased the library’s songs without downloading them to the iPod! Stupid, I know. But “sync” implies “synchronization.”

No, the iPod is a one-way sync, except for iTunes purchases (like you have another computer and you synced a purchased song, it will sync back to your other). Your iPod will just be loaded with your songs from iTunes.

They look awful to me and you can’t even tell it’s an ipod. It just looks like some stupid block with a black screen on the side.
