conclusive proof in Intelligent Design? The advance of a new theory?
Question by Sly Fox [King of Fools]: conclusive proof in Intelligent Design? The advance of a new theory?
Is the appendix conclusive proof that the theory of intelligent design is fallible?
And if so can we now reconsider it as being more a form of roughly intelligent design with a certain error rate?
And should school be teaching the greater complexities of roughly Intelligent design, and the error rate which occurs within it?
Just for greater understanding.
Some people are talking about this!

That’s the theory from surgeons and immunologists at Duke University Medical School,
The press report is simplistic. but read the paper and you will see that it is where gems live and not a place which produces them!
No difference you may think, but there is a world of difference!
The Appendix exist in other animals and serve a purpose just as the stomach. but if you remove the appendix people don’t have health problems, however it would be very difficult to live without a stomach.
And as for talking about it, if it wasn’t there????

Nope, the courts have already decided that creationism and I>D. are religion in disguise and can not be taught in public school science classes. If you want kids taught ID or creationism enroll them in the religious school of your choice. A private school may teach anything it wishes.

Evolutionism, Creationism, Intelligent Design?
Question by My Avatar Is Beautiful: Evolutionism, Creationism, Intelligent Design?
I just saw a Ben Stein Film on this and have decided that after years of being flabbergasted by the idea of religion and wondering what Darwin was smoking, I think I believe in Intelligent Design now.
What do you believe?
Ummm, hmmm….
Well lets just say if these 3 guys were running for president, If I had to vote, I would vote for the lesser evil, or to me the one that seems most factual and understandable to me is Intelligent Design. The other two are just, WOW, just full of holes.
If you have never smoked marijuana, your comment means less than nothing, thanks for the answer though.
creation and id are not the same, are you serious. I am an agnostic, go ahead and ask a Christian whether he believes in creation or ID and see what he says, betcha it aint ID, Its god did it all and every word in the bible is the truth.
I can’t wait for scientists to finally wake up and understand that Darwinism is wrong. Science changes everyday and each idea or “fact” usually changes with newer technology, science is understanding and if you don’t have the ability to have the technology at hand then you will never have the correct answer. It’s like the “state of the art” gimmick.

What’s that supposed to be? I’m familiar with evolutionary theory, but not with this ideology or philosophy you mention.
<>
What you think you believe isn’t of much importance. What matters is what’s backed by the available evidence. That’s not any of the three alternatives you’ve mentioned. Rather, the evidence indicates that the variety of lifeforms on the planet are best accounted for by evolutionary theory.

Q&A: Help! How to deal with this catholicism class “Intelligent Design” nonsense?
Question by : Help! How to deal with this catholicism class “Intelligent Design” nonsense?
So our last catholicism class was about the watchmaker argument. Well it’s really a stupid theory and simply doesn’t make any sense. The theory is that –The complex inner workings of a watch necessitate an intelligent designer and that simply shaking(evolution) is not enough. She even told us to try fixing an old watch by shaking it, according to her if evolution is correct it should work. The problem is we need to prepare a report on this, i know this theory is nonsense, so what should i do?

Q&A: Why do people want to teach intelligent design in schools?
Question by Chris K: Why do people want to teach intelligent design in schools?
so, I just watched most of Ben Stein’s documentary: “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed”. Basically, the only clips of people who were for the theory of evolution were something like this:”intelligent design is stupid! Why would you ever believe something as stupid as that?” Ok, intelligent design is not a scientific theory. For one, it is not falsifiable. How could I possibly even try to prove you wrong? If you can show me an elephant fossil that dated to the Precambrian era, I might be a little bit more skeptical about the theory of evolution. Two, an intelligent designer is NOT the most parsimonious explanation for the origins of life on Earth. Yes, I know, cells are very complicated. However, I find it a much simpler explanation that life arose through something like the RNA world hypothesis that I do that the first cell was created by some kind of supreme being. I’m sorry, but I just gotta vent a little after seeing something like that. Don’t get it confused, intelligent design is not science, and it would be a real dis-service to kids to teach it in schools.

Most Christians I know don’t want biblical creationism taught in science classes (they would butcher it, and then there’s the argument about all the other creation stories being taught). What we want is for microbes-to-man evolution to be taught with all its warts—in most states, they are not even allowed to present evidence that would put evolution in a poor light. And we want Intelligent Design to at least be mentioned (with teachers free to discuss it without fear of being sacked). Unlike alchemy, storks bringing babies, a flat earth, etc., a significant percentage of the (tax paying) population believes in ID (which is agnostic regarding the source of design and encompasses every “creation” story).
See the New World Encyclopedia entry on Intelligent Design:
http://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Intelligent_design
Good science teaching should include controversies. But, whenever you mention this kind of stuff, Darwinists jump from their trees and start behaving as if someone had stolen their bananas. Apparently, academic freedom is for other subjects. At the moment, educators are in the interesting position of not teaching students, but instead conditioning them to recite the “correct” answers without a second thought to other possible explanations. Today’s science education does not sufficiently emphasize inquiry-based learning.
What are the Darwinists afraid of? A little critical analysis never hurt anyone who had the evidence on their side. The Darwinists worship their idol but don’t listen to him. He said, “A fair result can be obtained only by fully stating and balancing the facts and arguments on both sides of each question…” (Charles Darwin, Origin of Species).
Evolutionists typically claim that the evidence for modern Darwinism is “overwhelming.” But they act as if they know the evidence is so shaky that the slightest whiff of open discussion will topple the theory. If high school students are capable of understanding the arguments and evidence for modern evolutionary theory, then they should be able to understand (and rationally discuss) scientific criticisms of modern evolutionary theory.

If humans are created via intelligent design, why are we so flawed?
Question by Nice guy: If humans are created via intelligent design, why are we so flawed?
Supposedly humans are the crown of creation. However, if one compares humans with animals, the only component that sticks out is our brain. In all other aspects, our body is at best mediocre compared to animals. Our senses are not well developed and even if we train them we never get close to most animals. Our immune system is crap; animals are on average much healthier that we are and we even have doctors to keep certain trouble away from us. Our skeleton is not made for upright walking and brings us back pain and other trouble with great regularity. Even our brain is not well designed since we only use a fraction of it. Among humans, good design requires talent and experience and a deep understanding of the nature of the object to be designed. Supposedly God, if infinite, should have all of these traits without limits. However, if we humans are the product of intelligent design by a God, then it appears to me that the result is mediocre at best. Take the human eye. Often cited as evidence for intelligent design, even we humans have come up with artificial eyes that are far superior to the human eye. So if we supposedly are evidence for intelligent design, my respect for the designer has just dropped a notch. As I designer, I would try to use the best components for my design, and not just for one part of it, unless I have a restricted budget.

Is the theory of Unintelligent Design different from Intelligent Design and Evolution? How is it different?
Question by Sean: Is the theory of Unintelligent Design different from Intelligent Design and Evolution? How is it different?
Evolution – man evolved from apes/monkeys, whatever
Intelligent Design – we are so complex we require a creator
Unintelligent Design – we’re screwed up – our creator is stupid.
I propose that if we are to teach children an alternative to Evolution, intelligent design, since Evolution has never been proven a fact, that we also teach the alternative theory of unintelligent design, that we are really screwed up people, created by a “stupid creator”.
I propose this as a non-offensive theory that is different from evolution and intelligent design, both of which have never been proven as fact.
What do you think?

Answer by piraterachel
we’re not ALL screwed up, I think. What about those amazing gymnists that seem almost able to fly with their practically perfect bodies? I wouldn’t consider myself screwed up if I could do that stuff. But, that theory might be depressing for some students, and hilarious for the rest of them. And, it might make them feel like they have a liscense to misbehave more if they are a “stupid creation” in their own minds. Cheers Imzarray
