Question by babyeedoll: How to lighten dark hair naturally at home?

I have naturally dark hair. I am growing out my highlights & going back to my natural color, but want to lighten it a bit. I used to use lemon juice and layout, but not much sun these days. Does the lemon really work to lighten hair? As I recall, it would add red highlights to my dark brown hair. If I put a heat cap on will it activate the lemon properties? Any other natural easy lightening tricks that won’t damage my hair?

Well I have naturally blonde hair, but when I’m outside alot, or when I go swimming in a pool, my hair get really light.
