DEG in Toothpaste from China
updated June 15, 2007
Introduction
FDA has found a poisonous chemical, diethylene glycol (DEG), in certain toothpastes imported from China. The agency increased its scrutiny and testing of imported toothpaste and dental products after receiving reports in late May 2007 of contaminated Chinese dental products found in several countries, including Panama.
The agency is warning consumers to avoid using tubes of toothpaste labeled as made in China and, through an import alert, is stopping all suspect toothpaste from entering the United States. FDA continues to investigate this problem and will take further action, as appropriate, to address this important public safety issue. View News Updates

California-based Primal Foods, a company that makes raw foods for cats and dogs, is issuing a voluntary recall on one of its feline products because it may be contaminated with Salmonella.
The affected product is Feline Chicken & Salmon Formula, 4 lb. chicken and salmon nuggets (UPC# 8 95135 00025 0), with a “best by” date code of 043112-17. The date code is located on the front of the package to the right of the product label. This product was distributed through retail stores in the United States.
At this time, no human or animal illnesses have been reported in connection with this lot code.
Consumers who purchased the recalled product can contact Primal Pet Foods directly at 866-566-4652 Monday though Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT for assistance in receiving a full refund or replacement from the place of purchase. Unopened packages should be returned to the local retailer. Opened packages should be disposed of in a covered trash receptacle and receipts (or the empty package in a sealed bag) brought to the local retailer.
Salmonella can affect humans and animals. People handling raw pet foods can become infected with Salmonella, especially if they have not followed proper handling procedures.
Healthy people with Salmonella infections may experience some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping, or fever. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with the affected product should contact their health care provider.
Pets infected with Salmonella may become lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, or vomiting. Some pets may experience only a decreased appetite, fever, or abdominal pain. Infected, but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed any of the affected products and is experiencing any of these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.
Please see the Primal Food’s website for a list of Frequently Asked Questions about the recall.
susan, i had not thought to post it in dogs since they were only recalling the cat food…do you think i should post it in dogs as well?
gerry…i also feed purina, but i know many feed raw, so when i saw this i thought it wouldnt hurt to spread the word.
@ show…everyone has a right to their own opinion. since i have started feeding my cats purina several yrs ago, they have never been healthier. they have soft, shiny coats, healthy stools and they are satisfied. purina has been researching pet nutrition for over 100 years. i think my cats health speaks well enough for the food they are eating.

Q&A: Has anyone heard of the Nutro Max and Natural Choice dry cat food recall?
Question by Luvsdard: Has anyone heard of the Nutro Max and Natural Choice dry cat food recall?
I am usually in dogs but just saw this online. There is a recall on Nutro cat food products and although I know it’s really not a question, I just wanted to get the word out. They are recommending not to feed this product. It’s on the Pet Supplies Plus website. Too much potassium and zinc. I just would never want to see anyone’s baby die from something like this.
Best answer:
Answer by Rachael
I actually feed my cats Nutro and have been meaning to throw it out and get some new food, as I just found out about this recently. Here’s a question though…could I still feed my remaining dry food and supplement with wet cat food (not affected by the recall)?

I have masonite siding on my home and am about to paint. I’ve heard bad things about this product – opinions?
Question by bobby_knight_hired_coach69: I have masonite siding on my home and am about to paint. I’ve heard bad things about this product – opinions?
The masonite has been on the property for about 17 years. Some parts need replacement, and the entire home needs a new coat of paint. I’m considering replacing all of it but don’t want to bear the cost now so I’d prefer to cover it up with a good coat of paint. I’m aware the product was recalled at one time but I did not own the home when that occurred.
I’d appreciate any opinions about the product, it’s expected life, problems, maintenance, etc.
Thanks.

Answer by Shade
Masonite is a good product. I built my dog house out of it as it is fairly resistant to rain. I covered it with roof sealer that you use with a membrane. The reverse side is very thirsty and you can forget about painting it. With the roof sealer you can also use the membrane on open areas like seams. The dog house is still bone dry inside.
After using the sealer you can paint over with normal paint.

Christians/believers? Have you heard of a variation of Intelligent Design theory that people call “SD theory”?
Question by Sevil Natas: Christians/believers? Have you heard of a variation of Intelligent Design theory that people call “SD theory”?
This is kinda how SD-theory goes:
1. Look at our universe! There have been so many failed galaxies, so many imploding stars, so many failed planets and solar systems destroyed by the forces and parameters that were apparently finely tuned so as to allow life to flourish.
2. Now look at our solar system, one of less than a dozen planets, the only one that we know of that has ever been hospitable to life. The other planets are simply too hot or cold to allow basic life to evolve let alone intelligent/conscious life that can form so called relationships with their creator, whom they presume cares for them and what they do and who they sleep with.
3. Now look at our planet. The only planet in our solar system that we know for certain has life. A planet in a galaxy in the deep corner of the univers. 90% of all life forms that have ever existed on this planet of ours have become extinct and failed to flourish. The majority of the planet is entirely inhospitable to life. Life forms only exist sparsely on the surface of the earth.
4. And for those who think Darwinian evolution is compatible with god, take a look at our human evolutionary history. Modern humans have been around for 100-200 thousand years. In the early periods in Africa, humans would have lived to 25 years only, because there was no medicine, very harsh climates, warefare, famine, theft and predators etc… Then suddenly after watching all of this SIN for 98000 years, their creator decides that he shall somehow “save his creations” by impregnating a jewish woman who will give birth to his “son”, who will be crucified in an ugly and sadistic bloody fashion, then rise back to heaven…… and this is supposed to all make it better.
5. And apparently this so called “Intelligent designer” chose for all of this to take place in some barbaric illiterate part of Palistine, instead of some place like China , which was already very literate and very progressive in science and technology.
*sighs* – I have two questions for you:
1. So you Christians and other believers want your god to be responsible for the reality of the universe and the world as I have described?
2. Does this look like intelligent design to you does it? Or perhaps “SD theory” is more suitable (i.e. Stupid Design Theory)… Afterall, this is evidence of “stupid design” isn’t it???
(please as always, no rude answers)

You should review point #3. The only planet in the universe with life. The only planet God himself said he created. The only planet he walked on.
And you are forgetting one very important point. Sin. That brought death and proves God is not a liar.
Yes, design always has intelligence behind it.
