Question by Erudite: When it comes to American cars is this lady doing the correct action?

She drives an American car. Ar a stop light if she sees a driver with a foreign car she holds up a sign that says “Buy American”. She tries to shame the owners of foreign cars.
This is happing in Michigan.

I wonder if she realizes that both Honda and Toyota are now built in the US and Ford and GM car components are now made in Mexico and/or Canada.

I don’t see how buying an inferior product helps anyone.
It doesn’t help the consumer and it doesn’t help the manufacturer. Recalls, lawsuits, and loss of confidence in the inferior product hurts over the long run.

American car companies had a monopoly for over 75 years. They squandered their monopoly by continuing to produce an inferior product. When the Japanese manufacturers started producing a better product, instead of raising quality, they use false patriotism to guilt people into buying junk.

I guess patriotism is a one way street. Americans are obligated to buy American cars, but the manufacturers have no patriotic obligation to produce a quality product.

I’d laugh at that lady because she’s probably on her way to get her transmission fixed for the third time.

A good setting/location for a scene that would involve some sort of action?

Question by trs_shortie9: A good setting/location for a scene that would involve some sort of action?

For a drama class, we have to come up with a setting and then a set design for a scene. This scene will be a 10 minute improvisation of 2 characters talking. Wanted to have it set in a coffee shop but was told that something like that wouldn’t work because he doesn’t want to see the characters simply sitting for 10 minutes. Any ideas? I would really appreciate them.

God, how I hate stupid drama class assignments. A 10 minute improv? that’s longer than they do on Who’s Line Is It?
Do a robbery of the coffee shop, that’ll be full of “action” Sounds like another pin headed teacher who does not explain the assigments thoroughly enough, unless, of course, you did not pay attention.

Is there a class action lawsuit against Chrystler because of their cars’ theft design flaws?

Question by Steve J: Is there a class action lawsuit against Chrystler because of their cars’ theft design flaws?

My car has been stolen twice. They get in with a screw driver, break the PLASTIC steering column, and drive away using a stick. Every CHRYSTLER has this flaw. Even the new ‘300’s. they have done nothing to fix this problem. My friend works with troubled youth and he even over heard them talking about how they can drive away with a chrystler with only a stick. these kids aren’t even 16 yet. this is a serious design flaw that they still haven’t corrected.

Did Honda ever correct their flaws, like starting one up with a filed down Chrysler key, or the ease of pulling back on the frame less window, NO
What about the early GM column that can be broken apart and started w/ a screwdriver, NO
Sorry I think you can’t fault a manufacturer for not designing a car that cannot be stolen 100% of the time.
BTW I understand that even if you can get the steering wheel unlocked, if the transmitter is not active then the theft module will not allow the engine to stay running, so I think your off on this one.

What action should I take against bogus design consultant?

Question by sissytwo: What action should I take against bogus design consultant?

I was contacted by a man who obtained my phone # from a Home Remodeling Show about some windows. He doesn’t have a license, but business cards printed “Design Consultant” saying he does windows & more. He came to my house measured for windows, got paid 1/2 the money & also constracted w/me to do a bathroom. He hires people rather than do the work himself. There were & are still problems w/the bathroom job, but as that was being done he said he didn’t have enough money to finish the jobs & asked me to pay him the remaining money. Well STUPID me, I did!! Now I have an unfinished bathroom & no windows. He met w/the death of his wife & I have tried to wait for him to come through. This all began in late July/Aug. & now it’s April & he never mentions finishing the bathroom, & goes for weeks w/out any mention of the window installation. I don’t know what I can do if anything. I would appreciate any suggestions.

It sounds like you pretty well got screwed.

There is nothing wrong with him contracting out the work to other (hopefully qualified) people.

However if you paid him half up front – and he is jerking you around, I would first report him to the better business bureau, and secondly demand that he refunds the money you have given him for work that was not done. If he refuses, you may need to take him to court (depending on the amount involved you might not be able to do small claims court – and you may want to lawyer up).
