I am concerned about the pet food recall. I have a dog who has been eating purina puppy chow and its made by?

Question by brisbeachmom: I am concerned about the pet food recall. I have a dog who has been eating purina puppy chow and its made by?

nestle and some of their wet food has been recalled. Our dog has recently been throwing up a lot and we took her to the vet. She said it was acid reflux and told us to give her pepcid ac. It seems to be really working since she hasn’t thrown up since. But still i worry what if that crap they found in the wet food is in the dry. I think i just wanna switch her to human food but i know its not healthy for her. Any ideas?
She wouldn’t eat pedigree..and they recently expaned the recall and said it was delibeartly put in the food in China.Even some of Petsmarts dog food was recalled. Just makes you cautious what is going in your dogs tummy

All that bad food was supposedly pulled off the shelves weeks ago. Unless you had some stocked up from before then i really doubt that you got a bad batch.
Its good to be concerned though. Myself ive been feeding my dogs Pedigree. They were not part of the recall at all.

Sure get her on a better quality dog food. Candiae is high quality dog food with no fillers or corn or wheat ro soy. No by products of any kind. I’t has been squeaky clean though all the recalls.

You have to make sure if you’re giving her human food that you give her all the right nutrients. If they don’t get enough vitamins in their food they’ll be malnourished just like people and develop problems. Make sure you research what dogs need before switching. You also should try a gradual switch so it doesn’t bother her stomach. I’ve switched to holistic dog food made without wheat, corn or rice glutens and no by products just to make sure my dog’s getting the right nutrients. There are several human food diets on the internet, BARF, raw food and several others that come up in a google search. The link below is a National Acadamy of Sciences pamphlet about dog health and nutrition.

purina puppy chow is not on the recall list. i feed both of my puppies puppy chow and do not have any problems with either one. they like it and my vet agrees with my choice.

QUALITY dog kibble has not been recalled as it does not contain the unnecessary fillers and byproducts which are what is effectively poisoning these dogs.

Look for the following brands: Canidae, Wellness, Innova or Artemis.

You won’t find them at the grocery store or Petsmart. You’ll find them only online or at a local pet food specialty store. They’ll certainly cost more than that Purina crap – but your dog will thank you for it.

Unless you’re planning to feed raw or B.A.R.F, human food is not nutritionally complete for your dog.

I hear you and applaud you for looking for a safe food.
I use all products from the link below.
Life’s Abundance dog and cat food , treats and some of the supplements and shampoo.
This company is great-do not now or ever used any of the contaminated products as they are not good for dogs and cats in the first place. Nutrient dense and formulated by a holistic vet for the best in health and nutrition for your pets.
Check out my link and read- there is alot of information about pet food including a video clip on this site.
I have three japanese chin-one poodle mix and a cat and we are never at the vet except for regular checkups.
I have been feeding this food long before the contamination and have been very happy with my pets health and their love of these products.
Good luck and health to you and your dog- whatever you choose choose holistic from a good source.

The only Purina product recalled I know of is its 5.3oz Mighty Dog brand pouch product produced by Menu Foods,Inc. between Dec 3, 06 and March 14, 07. But these recall lists are growing daily. :>(

Consumers may contact the company by calling 1-800-551-7392.

Check my source for extensive list of recall links, etc. Updated daily.
