Question by Elaine: Is ketchup included in the tomato recall?

OK, I’m pretty sure the answer is no- but my daughter, who is 5 years old, is throwing up (a lot) and I can’t find a reason (it doesn’t seem to be the flu and I can’t think of anything weird that she has eaten). The only thing that I can think of is she had ketchup yesterday and maybe that’s it.

So my question is, are processed tomato products included in the recall or only raw tomatoes? Thanks.

No. The only tomatoes recalled are the raw uncooked ones.

No, canned tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, and cooked tomatoes are all safe…

    remember the c’s!!!!

You should avoid romas especially, or anything not sold on the vine…

    nope.
    I’m eating canned tomatos now.
I’m laying off all fresh tomatoes until this dies down. Just like spinach before.

No…I like the poster that said remember the C’s, good idea. I’m also glad I’m growing my own!

Sorry to hear your daughter is so sick, I hope she will feel better soon, probably a yucky viral infection. I’m sure you’ll get her checked out if it persist or worsens.

Hi, yes you are right, only the raw tomatoes are affected.

The Ketchup would have been heated to kill off any salmonella.
