You shouldn’t have to have a receipt, since it was recalled.
It shouldn’t be on sale now, the stores shouldn’t even be selling it. Just tell them you want full price for it and see what they say.

Call the 800 number for the retailer you purchased the product from. The numbers are included in the link that you sent. They should be able to advise you about how to get your full refund.

Not needing a receipt isn’t entirely true. Generally you need a receipt if you expect to get reimbursed from a store rather than the manufacturer. If I bought a toy from Kmart and tried to return it to Target, I would find it difficult to believe that Target would refund you the money because it was recalled. At best, you’d be hoping for a store credit but without a receipt, that’s a pretty big stretch.

If you do the recall directly with the manufacturer, that’s a different story. They will usually credit you for the MSRP of the product or offer a comparible replacement.

Some stores may opt to give you store credit in liu of a cash refund if you don’t have your receipt. That’s usually on a case by case basis. Some stores keep your purchase history for 30-60 days based on your credit card number. Check with your retailer for this and hopefully, they still have record of your transaction.

In response to your second question. You can’t. Without a receipt, the best they can do is give you the sale price because they don’t know how much you bought it for or even when or where for that matter.
