I purchased a JVC video camera and have had nothing but problems with it. First it had a lens cap issue (Google JVC &Lens Cap) which seemed to be a design flaw. NOW my JVC video camera is saying Condensation, Operation Paused and won’t do anything. I live in Colorado where humidity is not a problem and the camera has not gone through any rapid temp changes. Google this and you will find over 500+ entries in Google of people looking for answers to this problem. Leaving the camera on, JVC’s suggestion, does not work. Blow drying it does not work. Any solution I have found (basically taking the entire camera apart and q-tipping all sorts of things, just fixes it for maybe a couple of hours if I am lucky but then it comes back. This is an obvious design flaw given the number of people reporting the problem but JVC only tells you to pay for a service center. Given what you heard, would you be a sucker like me and ever buy a JVC product? JVC = Just Video CRAP

Drifter trike update-design problems solved.

Found some faults with my design so I thought I’d share some solutions.

This video shows the design faults with the Tefal Mini Stainless Steel Kettle. The main fault is in the spout that causes the water to drip down the side of the kettle and rest in the base of the kettle. The poorly designed spout could be a potential hazard in your kitchen.

A DESIGN FLAW, THE 1929 BUICK

1929 BUICK’S WERE NOT THAT POPULAR BECAUSE OF THE BULGING SIDES OF THE BODIES. THENCE THEY WERE CALLED “PREGNANT” BUICKS. THE TOTAL BUICK LINE PREVIOUSLY THOUGH WAS GAINING IN SALES YEAR AFTER YEAR. THE ENGINE USED WAS A 6 CYLINDER, 90 AND A HALF BHP THAT DELIVERED 2800 RPM. THE PISTON DISPLACEMENT IS 309 CID. THE CARBURETOR WAS THE MARVEL AUTOMATIC BRAND WITH A BUILT IN MANUAL HEAT CONTROL. CRANKCASE VENTILATION WAS FORCED VENTILATION. THE WHEELBASE WAS 128 AND 3/4 INCHES WITH A FRONT TREAD OF 56 AND A QUARTER INCHES AND A REAR TREAD OF 58 INCHES. SO THE TURNING RADIUS WAS 44 FEET. LUBRICATION SYSTEM WAS PRESSURE TO CONNECTING RODS, ROCKER ARMS, AND CRANKSHAFT. BUICKS HAVE GREAT ENGINEERING, GREAT BUILD QUALITY AND GAINED A REPUTATION WHICH LED TO INCREASING SALES YEAR AFTER YEAR. HOWEVER, THE BUICK DESIGNERS THAT CREATED THAT BLOATED LOOK FOR THE ’29 MODEL YEAR REALIZED THEIR MISTAKE AND TRIMMED THE FAT OFF THE BODY FOR 1930. NOW, THE BEST PLACE TO VIEW THE ROLL OF FAT ON THIS BUICK IS FROM THE REAR. NOTICE RIGHT BELOW THE BELT LINE, THE LOVE HANDLE ON THE BODY THAT TAPERS DOWN TOWARD THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR. THAT’S WHAT PEOPLE THEN DIDN’T LIKE. ONE DOESN’T SEE TO MANY TWENTY NINES AROUND SO THIS RESTORED EXAMPLE IS A RARE ONE TO SEE. Like many counties in northern and central California, Fresno County relies on a system of levees to hold back floodwaters. However, FEMA recently revised its flood maps. In Fresno County, most of the existing levees were not certified to withstand a 100-year flood event. In addition, FEMA changed a huge swatch of land from Zone X (which signifies levee protection in a 100-year flood) to Zone A – flood hazard.

The area most significantly affected by this change is mainly north of Kings River between the Fresno Slough and Highway 99; the Fresno Slough corridor; and areas between Mendota Pool and Firebaugh west of the San Joaquin River. Over 7200 homes previously considered “protected” are now designated as being in a flood plain.

No matter which city you live in including Clovis, Coalinga, Fresno, Kingsburg, and San Joaquin, flooding is inevitable. In fact, flooding occurred frequently before the Fresno Metropolitan Flood Control District and related flood control and urban drainage systems came into being.

Today, flood control systems consisting of a series of ponding basins, channels, and other facilities divert storm water away from both rural and urban areas. While the levees and flood control systems are in place, they aren’t a guarantee against flooding as evidenced by aging levees and their failure to pass FEMA’s 100-year flood certification.

So, what do you do to protect your family and home if you live in Fresno County? Disaster preparedness starts with information. Learn about the flood threats to your home, office, school, and other locations that you regularly visit. View the most current FEMA flood maps to see if your home has been re-designated as being located in a flood plain. If your home or other location is likely to be affected by floodwaters, pay attention to weather forecasts and river levels. If you live outside of the flood zone, flooding remains possible. Consider purchasing federal flood insurance because your homeowner’s policy won’t cover this type of water damage.

The National Weather Service offers a River Forecast Center for California and Nevada with real-time data indicating current river conditions. Charts show you exactly how high the river is currently compared to the monitor and flood stages. River and rain gauges located along key points throughout the two states help predict slow-rise and flash floods.

The state of California also provides valuable information regarding flooding on its Department of Water Resources Flood Management web page (http://www.dfm.water.ca.gov/). You’ll find a wealth of information and links here to help you better understand flooding in Fresno County.

In addition to learning about the flood risk, learn about what to do before, during, and after a flood. Remaining safe is priority number one during all phases of the flood. Once the floodwaters have gone down and it’s safe to return to your home, the next step is to mop up and repair the damage. You don’t have to do it on your own. everyone knew before Katrina that the barrier islands and marshes were being eroded and drying up.

yes many predictions were made before Katrina about what would happen if a category 3 or higher hurricane hit. They even got federal dollars to use to create evacuation plans for New Orleans….they used that money to instead build the Lake Pontchartrain causeway (real good use huh?). So the evacuation plan was never really made…which explains my answer being B

Yes it made landfall as a Category 3, though it was at one point a category 5. It still had a heck of a surge that toppled the levees and barriers. There was not enough time for the water to settle back down before it hit.

Through the use of Normalisation which gets rid of redundant data. Just keep in mind that there are at least 7 Basic levels of Normalisation but performing some of the levels can be impact lengthy operations such as searching.

I need a fairly simple product with a small flaw/problem so that I can redesign it for my tec hw. Some stuff other people have done is: pepper mill, cheese grater, paint tin and lemon juicer- so anything like that would be appreciated and could you tell me whats wrong with it too so I can think of how to design it differently. Its coursework so please help! Thanks 🙂

They have holes in the bottom to allow water to run through – why though do they not have holes right to the edge of the base……water is always left there so one can never really have things strained properly.
