FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — St. Louis, Missouri, March 30, 2007 . . . Nestlé Purina PetCare Company today announced it is voluntarily recalling all sizes and varieties of its ALPO® Prime Cuts in Gravy wet dog food with specific date codes. The Company is taking this voluntary action after learning today that wheat gluten containing melamine, a substance not approved for use in food, was provided to Purina by the same company that also supplied Menu Foods. The contamination occurred in a limited production quantity at only one of Purina’s 17 pet food manufacturing facilities.
Earlier today the FDA announced the finding of melamine in products related to the March 16 Menu Foods recall, and advised Purina of the source of the contaminated supply. Purina then determined that it had received some quantity from the suspect supplier. The company proactively notified the FDA and immediately began this recall process.
Purina is confident that the contaminated wheat gluten has been isolated to this limited production quantity of ALPO Prime Cuts canned products.
The recalled 13.2-ounce and 22-ounce ALPO Prime Cuts cans and 6-, 8-, 12- and 24-can ALPO Prime Cuts Variety Packs have four-digit code dates of 7037 through 7053, followed by the plant code 1159. Those codes follow a “Best Before Feb. 2009” date. This information should be checked on the bottom of the can or the top or side of the multi-pack cartons.
Purina’s 5.3-ounce Mighty Dog® pouch products, manufactured by Menu Foods, were previously withdrawn from the market as a precaution on March 16 as part of the Menu Foods recall. ONLY Mighty Dog pouch products and specific date codes of ALPO Prime Cuts canned dog food are being recalled.
Importantly, no Purina brand dry pet foods are affected by the recall – including ALPO Prime Cuts dry. In addition, no other Purina dog food products, no Purina cat food products, Purina treat products or Purina Veterinary Diet products are included in this recall, nor have been impacted by the contaminated wheat gluten supply.
Consumers should immediately stop feeding ALPO Prime Cuts products with the above-listed date codes to their dogs and consult with a veterinarian if they have any health concerns with their pet.
Purina guarantees all of its products, and consumers can receive the full replacement value of the recalled products. Consumers can visit us at www.purina.com or call 1-800-218-5898, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CDT, to receive more information.
Purina is fully cooperating with the FDA and made the decision to voluntarily recall this product in consultation with the FDA.
At Purina, nothing is more important to us than the health and well-being of the pets whose nutrition has been entrusted to us by their owners, and we deeply regret this unfortunate situation. We will continue to take any and all actions necessary to ensure the quality and safety of our products.

That is the first Purina product in the recall. And today my vet told me that a Science Diet special diet dry food is in the recall. That is the first dry food to be a problem in this particular recall.

RonWhite: You Can’t Fix Stupid
Ron White was riding high on his “Tater Salad” DVD when he did this follow-up special for which I designed the lighting. The most famous story is the title piece, “You Can’t Fix Stupid”. We shot the show at the Majestic Theatre in Dallas.
A music video about the Smallville episode Persuasion. Song is Flawed Design by Stabilo, remixed by an unknown Dj. The vid starts out mediocre, but then it gets good 🙂 I was just dying to make a video and my laptop can’t seem to handle too much of that these days, so I made a video with just one episode. I’ve got like 3 videos waiting to be finished, which look totally amazing by the way. As soon as my laptop stops being stupid I hope to post them ASAP.

What action should I take against bogus design consultant?
Question by sissytwo: What action should I take against bogus design consultant?
I was contacted by a man who obtained my phone # from a Home Remodeling Show about some windows. He doesn’t have a license, but business cards printed “Design Consultant” saying he does windows & more. He came to my house measured for windows, got paid 1/2 the money & also constracted w/me to do a bathroom. He hires people rather than do the work himself. There were & are still problems w/the bathroom job, but as that was being done he said he didn’t have enough money to finish the jobs & asked me to pay him the remaining money. Well STUPID me, I did!! Now I have an unfinished bathroom & no windows. He met w/the death of his wife & I have tried to wait for him to come through. This all began in late July/Aug. & now it’s April & he never mentions finishing the bathroom, & goes for weeks w/out any mention of the window installation. I don’t know what I can do if anything. I would appreciate any suggestions.

It sounds like you pretty well got screwed.
There is nothing wrong with him contracting out the work to other (hopefully qualified) people.
However if you paid him half up front – and he is jerking you around, I would first report him to the better business bureau, and secondly demand that he refunds the money you have given him for work that was not done. If he refuses, you may need to take him to court (depending on the amount involved you might not be able to do small claims court – and you may want to lawyer up).

Toy recall for September 4 2007?
Question by Hilda C: Toy recall for September 4 2007?
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in co-operation with Mattel Inc., announced late Tuesday that it is recalling about 675,000 Chinese-made toys that have excessive amounts of lead paint.
The voluntary recall covers units of various Barbie accessory toys that were manufactured between Sept. 30, 2006, and Aug. 20, 2007.
“Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed,” said the agency’s website.
As well, 8,900 different toys involving Big Big World 6-in-I Bongo Band toys from the company’s Fisher-Price brand were recalled. Those products were sold nationwide from July 2007 through August 2007.

Well Jimmy Crack Corn! Come on now, they don’t check these toys before they distribute? We should stop importing with them (China).

How can I get involved in product testing for infants/toddlers/childrens products?
Question by summer_00_butterfly: How can I get involved in product testing for infants/toddlers/childrens products?
Every time I have bought a baby/toddler product whether it be shampoo or a bouncer or a bib, I always share my opinions with the company. Sometimes I find a truly great product that I just couldn’t do without and I praise the company, but most of the time, I find design flaws or things that could use improvement, and I definately share my opinion then. Either way, since I already have to buy these products as I have two toddlers and a baby on the way, it would only make sense that I work testing these products and either get paid for my opinion or given the items for free in exchange for my opinion. Has anyone else done product testing for these types of items? Did you get paid for it, either in cash or goods, and how did you get involved in it?

most of the time the company will advertise but you could also use a search engine to find it you do get paid but not much

How do I get them to build my design?
Question by Munz: How do I get them to build my design?
I have designed an airplane that I would like to see take to the skys as the real thing, however, it is rather large so I cant build it in my garage, and it would cost upwards of ,000,000 AUS. I know it sounds stupid but it could really work. I have also designed an aircraft never seen before capable of being used by the military a great deal. Can anyone help?
Best answer:
Answer by Denis S
First off, protect your design. I don’t know about Aussie law but US law says keep a record of your design with dates, log books, pictures, sketches, etc. to verify you were first with the idea. Once you’ve applied for a patent, contact the big airline companies, Boeing, Lockheed Martin in the US, Airbus in Europe and tell them you have an idea and try to set up a meeting. You’re going to have to be persistent and remember to protect yourself with confidentiality agreements and the like while you’re shopping your idea around. It won’t easy no matter how good your idea is but be persistent.
Your other route is to go throught the military and shop the idea that way. That may be the more tortured path though.
