isn t it interesting that black can be made of 3 colours while white can t be made? Like mixing our? life makes it dark (black) sometimes but (white) pureness can t come from us…
Good explain? !!
iphone app based? on itten’s color theory:
itunes.apple.com/us/app/sbapix/id636482473?ls=1&mt=8
It applies to colors. But i doubt there is a way to mix pencils properly, because you? are drawing on top of the other pencils color, not mixing it.
This is the best explanation I’ve seen of the color weel! I will be referring to it over? and over. Thank you so much!
PPS: Excuse me, hah…yes, it was him. Beau Lotto and his lecture on color theory and perception on TED.
After? studying all of this stuff for such a long time already, it really is second nature..it has to be.
Once again, it amazed me the gasps coming fro the audience regarding fundamental color comparisons and principles..so fresh and new to everyone.
I try not to get frustrated by ppl on the street bugging me while painting, but I understand their fascination. We tk much for granted.
PS: A couple others related/unrelated :
Alain de Botton is very good, and has? also lectured on TED.
More entertaining. Few great critics within art. Here was one imo

They have removed Roger Scruton’s excellent “Why Beauty Matters”. Try searching for it elsewhere, or goto filestube and search. It is worth having. Fortunately I downloaded before removal.
Once you get into these guys youll find others of interest along the way.
How Art Made the World is also strong.
Ciao
hah..dont worry. I like your links.
I like TED, don’t think I saw that one. Will take a look. There was one I viewed that was on color perception. Dont recall anything regarding bees though, so I must not have.
The one I did see was very banal, and it amazed me how in awe the audience was. It was basic color theory and perception. Amazing how little people know of vision and color to this day..it was like science fiction to them!
An oldie? but goodie: /watch?v=nynoX0rA10E
Best regards.
I hear all that. As? a final comment (I promise), I found this TED talk absolutely fascinating. It’s all about color perception, and visual perception in general and some crazy research with bees and color! “Beau Lotto Optical illusions show how we see”
No, you didnt. I am a fine art painter as well, around all too many academics…I was venting..
Yes, I hate conventions? as well.
Best wishes in your work. Sorry once again for that crap..
No offence taken. I probably did sound like a complete ‘smartass’ in my first comment. I am genuinely interested in? the subject. As a painter I just experienced the frustration with our ‘cultural’ color wheel. I know RGB and RGY of school books aren’t ‘wrong’ for everyday use, but to really get into color there is loads to contemplate. All the best in your YouTubing!
PS:
fwiw, as a note (smile), we are forced to use subtractive color theory. We havent a choice. As we are working with “stuff” and not actual light, we are working towards darkness, not towards light.
Knowledge of? both is critical and fundamental however. No question.
C&M are recent discoveries really. Yes, primarily available only as dyes and used in printing. (We take color for granted today, but 90% of colors we know came only during industrial revolution, many within last 30yrs.)
Hi
I wished to respond to you after writing that.It has taken me ages simply to find this again.
I have since deleted it, but genuinely wished to apologize. It isnt my nature to be hateful. Bad day..we certainly don’t need more hateful comments online. It upset me to have allowed? myself to behave that way. Not my nature, and I do appreciate what youre saying.
Genuine apologies once again and sorry should I have upset you.
Kind regards.
There’s no need for bad language or aggression. This is meant to be a discussion forum not a shouting match. I’m all for basic theory, but the basic theory presented was incorrect. I was pointing out there are other resources explaining this on youtube in an accessible? way. Offering other perspectives and info isn’t pedantry. My point is that subtractive color theory you posit, does not work well for pigments, or serve beginners well. Many printers using ink pigment, base the color mix on CYM.
cyan magenta and yellow are primary colors for reflected light (which is the mechanism by which we see paint). The theory you teach will? lead aspiring painters to mix muddy colors. Red green Blue are the ‘primaries’ for Additive color theory, (how our cones in the retina categorize light. But we do not perceive light that way. Check out “Young and Helmholtz” theories and another good site for color wheel explanation is Scott Naismith “the truth about the color wheel (youtube)
black n? white
whats? the incorrection?
this video is? completely incorrect .
how do i darken or? lighten grey?
Colors?
Also some watercolor painters don’t use black because of the dulling. I just mix? a dark dark dark color that is almost black (which I think would still dull the color if added).
My water color professor was a genius at mixing colors. you could giver her a jean tone and she could match it in a minute or two. It was crazy. I envy her eye. I would mix ultramarine blue, a good red (sorry I don’t remember the name) and the deep green and then? add more blue…I think…lol Good luck
mixing will be different than paints because mixing them is different (paints? mix, colored pencils can be layered or manipulated bu pressure but not really mixed like paint) but if you have a large set you would have all of the secondary and even the tertiary colors prepared. The color theory aspect is science it it apples to 2d media. Computer screens are bit different is some aspects. I hope that made sense. Do you have art vids?
I would think black. Which? would be a tone of blue considering that Navy is not characterized by any other color just a dark version of the primary try it. I haven’nt mixed paints in years but this man knows what he is talking about i learned something i didnt even learn from my books.
Thanks for blowing my ear off. I? had ear buds on….LOUD!!!
need a way better cam?
I’m sure they are when? they’re actually angry. ;p
believe me this video? doesnt do the roar any justice, i came went to my local wildlife park last week and was watching a white lion roar, it vibrates every bone in your body and is so much louder and deeper than you can imagine. we could hear him so clearly all the way across the other side of the park. and it still sounded like we was only next door haha you should take some time to view one of these beautiful animals in person. truely worth it
my stomach sounds? like that when i get hungry
True, but lions are not naturally living in the united states of america in the wildlife and even if he? would be released in africa, he would die there quite soon. So he can’t be released and its better for him at this rescue than in wildlife or private ownership. The selfish people were those breeding him not Big Cat Rescue.
lions are so impatient lol?
I always imagined them sounding deeper with their calls. Maybe the MGM? movie thing skewed my ideas
lemme? guess…..Joseph?
Idk man it’s either captivity? or they get killed for their fur.
thats a? bellow
i love how people like to put human emotions on? animals just because they “think” they know what the animal is “supposed” to sound like when it’s happy, sad, stressed, etc are you a lion? do you speak lion? no? ok then
Yeah, right.. I speak Lion and what he said was ‘AWW CUM ON BRUH, NOT DIS KRAPPY FOOD AGAIN BRUH, IZ U SERIOUS RYT NOW. LEMME TELL U SUMTHIN RYT QUICK BRUH, Y’CANT MAKE ME EAT? DIS AIGHT?’
Thank you so much for your deep concern for his well-being. He is not sad and distressed in? this video. He knew the food cart was coming and that it would be his turn soon. He wanted them to hurry up.
not all organization such as this can live in donations alone. They’re big cats, and from their photos and videos everything is well maintained.
I’d rather pay big bucks to this kind of tours rather than some breeders using cubs as their? profits.
if? you hear this in africa, you know it is still blessed
He sounds sad and distressed. This is? not a good video.
Pun?
Not sure if you meant to put cativity as a pun, or if? you just misspelled the word.
But there is good that comes from some of the captive work out there too. There are rescues, there’s attempts to promote breeding for conservation, and these animals are well looked after. There? are even educational benefits for people – especially children – who may otherwise never get to see these creatures in their life time.
The whackos just make it seem as though some dumb ass went out and trapped one of these for amusement and threw it in a cage.
damn sunds like my dad is reving up? his harley lmao
that’s? not funny!!!!
Smoker’s meow?
A? barbary lion!! They are sadly extinct in the wild.
ceaser millan? kick dogs.
