Question by Tarv: How can I prevent my laptop hinges from cracking?
I take good care of my MSI laptop, but I had to replace a 1.5 year old hinge after it cracked. Now the other hinge is coming apart also (2 years). I’ll get this hinge replaced too, but is there something I can do in the future to prevent this from happening? Products, tricks, secrets to laptop care, I’ll take any advice
and I have already heard that laptop hinges aren’t the greatest
specifically MSI laptop hinges

Try rubbing a little bit of vaseline into the hinge it just might lubricate it enough to help.
Or you could go to this site and win a new laptop http://tinyurl.com/4xajr9l

Open the laptop screen by lifting it from the front centre – not from the edge.
Maybe you already do that of course…
The other thing would be to keep the screws that hold the hinge assembly tight.
On most laptops they would be under the hinges on the bottom of the laptop – and/or on the back edge. Make sure they have not worked loose every couple of months.
Apart from that, maybe its just a design flaw.
You will get a lot more life out of your hinges if you open and close the lid slowly.
My sister has a laptop thats about 8 months old that already needs a hinge, that’s because everytime she opens it she whips it open. Same way with closing it, she slams it shut.
I’ve had one of my laptops (Toshiba) for 3 years and the hinges are still like new. This is due to the fact that I’m delicate with them, because they’re essentially a delicate device.
