hey me 2..i’ve always be wondering

but what you want is something that sticks out for the rest
u can always make a design book and try to show it 2 different companies or whatever
u can also try to make clothes for ppl at your school, say for prom or homecoming or whatever. soon other ppl will be asking
put yourself out there, try to wear your own designs etc. etc.

edit: if you have a family member or friend who is in the fashion business u can ask them for advice, like my uncle is one

Well sweetie, I am in the same boat as you – I would love to have my own line but it takes a lottt of effort and a lottt of trial and error
You need sketches of the clothes, actual samples of the clothes in various sizes and colors, and you need to try to develop enough clothes to produce a line.
Then you need to go to places and pretty much convince them on why they should start selling your line, and if you don’t have connections its very hard

its rele hard! u have to have ALL of the supplys like fabric, buttons, thread, needles, ribbon, zippers, and other things like that. it would cost a lot and then you have to get a profit and sell it at a high pricce. but if you think you can do it, then you can 🙂 good luck 🙂

I currently attend Savannah College of Art and Design. It’s said to be the best art school in the country.. look it up at scad.edu. My best friend attends for fashion. It’s a great program, we have an 80% job placement so basically if you go there, work hard in your major, especially if you have a good portfolio going in to it, you’ll be successful.

For now I would start taking as many art classes at school as you can. Enter contests they tell you about (rising star, culture shapers.. etc.) to get your name out there and earn credibility, these things will help you get into a good art school when it’s time. Keep your grades up and do good on your SAT when it comes to that time as well.

Also, start fashion journals. This is the big one. Get a nice sketchbook, and a nice set of pencils (everything from 4b to 4h.. b’s being the heaviest h’s being the lightest) and start sketching! If you really want it, you will put a lot of time and effort into sketching. Learn how to draw the human body.. in fact take a life drawing class. When you have a few solid ideas in your sketchbook, try to make them! My friend Erika made her prom dress and it was so cute.. took a lot of planning and measuring and it was very tedious, but it turned out so cute and it was so cool that she made it herself. Get as much work done as you can by college so you’re ahead of the girls that are just like “Hmm what should I do? I’ll guess I’ll go to school for fashion since I like clothes!”

Also, read fashion magazines! That may sound stupid but the biggest thing in art is keeping up with it. I am a photography major and I am constantly researching the modern world of photography because you don’t want to be doing something someone else already had done, or is doing. Looking at other art is also inspiration. Without copying it, you CAN get ideas from it.

Best of luck 🙂 SCAD is obviously not the only good school for fashion, but I know it’s a good one so you should check it out.

Please best answer this if it helped 🙂 thank you.
