Question by smiley123: Is it safe to go to the Mall of America in Minnesota right now because of the bridge collapse?
My family and I were going to the Mall of America in Minnesota next Tuesday but my dad is now deciding that it might not be ‘safe’ enough to go now because that bridge collapsed in Minneapolis. So do you think it’s safe?

Yes it is very safe to go to the mall of America, the reason that the bridge collapse was due to the age and the lack of preventive maintenance that should have been done over the 40 years, so I would go and have a great time.
there has to be more one bridge in that city!
And the Mall of America isn’t even Minneapolis in the first place
(unless it moved 😉
dont go anywhere… there are many bridges everywhere…i think u should lock your family in the basement to be safe.
It is a fluke thing that happened. It is not a terroristic act and no others have collapsed. FYI, that bridge is pretty far north from Bloomington, where the MOA is located. Depending on which was you come from, but there are no bridges that cross any rivers near the MOA.
sure the mall is not now or has it ever been located oh the
I-35 bridge
The news said that hundreds of bridges were found unfit by federal regulations and are inspected constantly or scheduled for upgrade. I would go anyway but you might want to question the validity of the state to keep them safe. A lot of screaming to do about that.
Why wouldn’t it be? You won’t be driving over that bridge anymore. Do you think all bridges are in imminent danger of collapsing? Some sort of domino effect?
yes……………………. I worked in NYc after the attak on America on Sept. 11. Enjoy your life please and do what is special to you and the family
Mc is here and can I have a ba
This web site http://www.highways.org has links to the federal government “invnetory” of safety inspections of bridges in the USA showing which are “deficient” organized by geography, so you can find out which bridges in your neck of the woods will soon be in your bend of the river, unless they get fixed, then you know which bridges to avoid.
Now was your fear that the Mall of America was going to fall down?
That is a private enterprise that has a strong profit motive to do good repairs and keep it in good condition … totally different situation from government Department of Transportation DOT that has managed to be allowed to not tell the motoring public what bridges are safe and what are not.
If anything bad happens at the Mall of Ameica, it aint going to be a building falling down for lack of maintenance, it is going to be one of those terrorist attacks.
As long as you don’t cross the bridge, where there is no bridge, it should be as safe as any other trip to the mall.
WHY DON’T YOU JUST CALL YOUR LOCAL DMV OFFICE, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL BE GETTING THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION.
