Intelligent Design is falsifiable, stupid – Evolution Isn’t!

Michael Behe: “ID is very open to falsification. I claim, for example, that the bacterial flagellum could not be produced by natural selection. It needed to be deliberately intelligently designed. Well, all the scientist has to do to prove me wrong is to take a bacterium without a flagellum, or knock out the genes of the flagellum in a bacterium, go into his lab, and grow that bug for a long time, and see if it produces anything resembling a flagellum. If that happens, ID, as I understand it, would be knocked out of the water. Now, I don’t certainly expect it to happen, but it’s easily falsified by a series of such experiments.” “Now, let’s turn that around and ask how do we falsify the contention that natural selection produced the bacterial flagellum. If that same scientist went into the lab and knocked out the bacterial flagellum genes and grew it through the bacterium for a long time, and nothing much happened, “Well”, he can say, “Maybe we didn’t start with the right bacterium. Maybe we didn’t wait long enough. Maybe we need a bigger population.” And it would be very much difficult to falsify the Darwinian hypothesis. I think the very opposite is true. I think ID is easily testable, easily flasifiable, although it has not been falsified, and Darwinism is very resistant to being falsified. They can always claim something was not right.” Quote comes from this DVD: www.amazon.com Could the flagellum have evolved?: intelligentdesign.podomatic.com More on Intelligent

This present-day version of God of the gaps goes by a fresh name: intelligent design. The term suggests that some entity, endowed with a mental capacity far greater than the human mind can muster, created or enabled all the things in the physical world that we cannot explain through scientific methods. An interesting hypothesis. But why confine ourselves to things too wondrous or intricate for us to understand, whose existence and attributes we then credit to a superintelligence? Instead, why not tally all those things whose design is so clunky, goofy, impractical, or unworkable that they reflect the absence of intelligence? And what comedian designer configured the region between our legs-an entertainment complex built around a sewage system? Stupid design could fuel a movement unto itself. It may not be nature’s default, but it’s ubiquitous. Yet people seem to enjoy thinking that our bodies, our minds, and even our universe represent pinnacles of form and reason. Maybe it’s a good antidepressant to think so. But it’s not science-not now, not in the past, not ever. ~Neil Tyson fora.tv Commonwealth Club of California San Francisco, CA Feb 9th, 2007 Neil deGrasse Tyson talks about Death By Black Hole And Other Cosmic Quandaries Free (mp4) Download: fora.tv

@SpankbankINC Christian enlightenment? Christianity CREATED the dark ages. And no, you cannot prove evolution is wrong in a lab. If you can, I’ll even invite you to run your experiment, record all your data and send it to me. I’ll be more than happy to run every single test or experience you conduct under the same conditions and I’ll even videotape it, since I’m not into manipulating evidence, like some christian “scientists” I can remember.

    @SpankbankINC Firstly, you’re hilarious.

Secondly, why would God kill billions just to prove a point?

Thirdly, it wouldn’t be worldwide because many nations, including where I live, are nowhere near the Earth’s fault lines.

4: you remember the Milennium Bug? Remember the Rapture? How did that work out? Oh, yeah, IT DIDN’T HAPPEN.

5: Even if worldwide earthquakes happen, why would it be a WHO responsible and not a WHAT?

6: If it happens, how’d you know which God’s responsible?

  3. SpankbankINC says:

@viridismonasteriense how about i take it a step further. Unprecidented earthquakes world wide around the same time. Mid september. No way man could influence such things, agreed?

  4. SpankbankINC says:

@grimordwow Science went from a darkage between Paganism and Christian enlightenment in the darkage. Now it is going through one yet again. I dont know what to believe but I can tell you if evolution is real then it is not real in the sense that it is propagted today. And it is not a universal phenomenon because it goes against Entropy.

Mutations cause cancer. Design makes better species. You can adapt by condiontioning in your life time. I can prove these things in a lab!

  5. grimordwow says:

@SpankbankINC Yeah, a little. But he also didn’t have the information we have today. 🙂

  6. SpankbankINC says:

@grimordwow Is that the best argument you have toward your cause? a mean spirited perverse statement. How did he shut me down? Was Darwin a theists nut for believeing in God?

  7. grimordwow says:

@SpankbankINC So you chose to do this to yourself? Cute.

  8. SpankbankINC says:

    @grimordwow I dont go to Church…

  9. grimordwow says:

@SpankbankINC Viridismonasteriense schooled you so hard hahaha. Waiting for you to be done sucking your preacher’s male-tit for a bible-induced anti-logical reply so I can laugh a little more. Seriously.

@SpankbankINC Prophecies are accelerating? What the hell are you talking about? Weapons to maximum! You’re not making sense. Religionists love to talk prophecy, because it deals with the future, which we by definition cannot know anything about! The fact that we don’t know it by definition proves nothing! The Rapture has been prophesized many times but it never came. The dark tunnel is life. Life is awesome. Why do you so eagerly want to die? I love this world. Heaven sounds like hell.

  11. viridismonasteriense says:

@SpankbankINC I think you’re a loon. That’s a fairly nice way to put it. Prophecies prove nothing. There is no dark tunnel. It’s a world of many bright colours, including grey and black, but also green and blue. Even if the prophecy turns out to be correct, the nuclear war will still be a direct result of religion, making it a self-fulfilling prophecy (a fixed game, just the way God likes to work). And if nothing happens, those loons will just shout “we miscalculated! It’ll happen next year!”.

  12. SpankbankINC says:

@viridismonasteriense I don’t think you know what your talking about. That a fairly nice way to put it. The times I speak of is of unprecidented persecution for real Christians and Israel. But there is light and a promise at the end of the dark tunnel. Around the latter part of this year some Messianic teachers have predicted that the Middle east will erupt into nuclear war and Damasucus will be destroyed. Others disagree but the prophecies are accelerating.

  13. viridismonasteriense says:

@viridismonasteriense Why do you look at this world and see only misery? Only snakes and demons and magic and this monster in the sky and you’re just the tiny, meaningless, worthless pawn that he toys with. Why is it so hard to believe that humans are born capable of both right and wrong? Not only God is good! It’s a lie to make you feel guilty, unworthy, sick, worthy of curing, saving only through God. That’s how they trick you. It’s no source of morality or good! It’s indoctrination! Evil!

  14. viridismonasteriense says:

@SpankbankINC Do you want war to come? Do you want us all to die? Do you delight in the prospect of an apocalypse, because if you do you sicken me. Your God’s a monster in both the OT and NT so he is no basis for morality in any galaxy.
A tyrannical, abusive, genocidal, jealous, voyeuristic conman who values blood sacrifice above all. A mob boss you pay tribute to, a Big Brother who watches you, a master of slaves who thinks love can be bought, not earned.
    Thankfully he’s not real! Rejoice!

  15. viridismonasteriense says:

@SpankbankINC “the Earth itself” If I was drinking I would’ve spat it out upon reading that. The Earth itself needs cleaning, because we’re that filthy? Prove that God created the Earth. Then, if he did, in his omniscience he should’ve known exactly what was going to happen. Original sin was his creation. Just like hell. He created the entire fixed cruel system and then he comes down and says ‘choose’. Me or eternal damnation. That’s not a choice. He creates us sick and commands us to be well!

  16. viridismonasteriense says:

@SpankbankINC They were not contemporary. Nor is it even clear whether the Talmud mentioned Jesus at all. some argue that Yeshu is a literary device used by Rabbis to comment on their relationship to and with early Christians. They could’ve been slandering the symbol of Jesus, not Jesus himself, but the very idol the early Christians were worshipping. The three main religions have always been slandering and attacking each other for 2000 years, all claiming to be peaceful and all the same God!

  17. viridismonasteriense says:

@SpankbankINC Deuteronomy 17 instructs how to treat those that worship other Gods. You take that man or that woman to thy gates and you stone them to death. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God” Exodus 20:4-5. Conform or die is the message. And that’s not even mentioning hell. Faith and obedience. Thou. Shalt. Not. Or die. Some merciful, loving, just God. No free will, no free thoughts, no choice to even not to love God.

  18. viridismonasteriense says:

@SpankbankINC Slaves could be freed, unless the slave trader had given them a wife, and if the slave did not want to leave his wife he had to be the master’s slave forever, for the wife remains the master’s property. After that choice the master could pierce the slave’s ear like cattle, even beat him to death if he wanted to. Exodus Chapter 21. God ALLOWS Slavery. A slave is still a slave. Property. To be beaten with a rod. God does not speak out against it!

  19. viridismonasteriense says:

@SpankbankINC The wealthy do not enter heaven, so any true Christian must give it all away, not some. Your religion, your rules. Also knowledge is the source of all evil and only causes pain, so stay ignorant is what the Bible says Let others tell you what to do. Don’t think for yourself, don’t do anything, don’t plan ahead, don’t work. Don’t think for the morrow. Just lay back and pray for God to provide you everything. Leave your family behind. Loathe yourself, loathe them, praise God.

  20. viridismonasteriense says:

@SpankbankINC I did not say they ONLY follow the words of Paul. Most of orthodox Christianity relies heavily on these teachings and considers them to be amplifications and explanations of the teachings of Jesus, however they are found to contradict many times. Paul was a bastard before and after conversion, even telling the apostle Peter face to face that he was wrong. He was full of himself, naming his son ‘Barnabus’ meaning ‘Son of the Prophecy’ putting himself on equal level as Jesus.

  21. SpankbankINC says:

@viridismonasteriense Christianity was popular amongst slaves. In the Bible slaves had rights, and they had to be freed every jubali year. Jesus spent time with gentiles and praised ones faith, saying “I have not found such great faith even in Israel” Luke 7:9. God will act it allowed to by faith and obedience. It takes wisdom and a great conformity to his ways. I have been given dreams of warning calling and knowledge. I have rejected the God that is bascially dead until you die.

  22. SpankbankINC says:

@viridismonasteriense Yeshua did exist. The Rabbonic leaders hated him as much as anyone did, and they slandered him. If he did’t exist then why did they slander him? He was their contemporary, why would they slander somone who didn’t exist? God gave man the earth, we perverted it into our image. Worry not Yeshuah is coming back to redeem not just some people but the earth itself. Soon War is gonna break out like horrible, then he will come to end all war.

  23. viridismonasteriense says:

@SpankbankINC Now if Jesus was a mere mortal man, then he did die for his message of peace. A message that is admirable (at least as a basis; it still has flaws, like slavery) –if it hadn’t been sadly only focused within the group of Jews and not at the Gentile who are allowed still to be deemed heretics, devils or worse, all to be killed. It’s in Jesus’ words that the concept of hell took form. The concept of original sin and blind faith which are not commendable ideas. They are horrific.

  24. SpankbankINC says:

@viridismonasteriense First things first. Paul persecuted Christians before he converted. So that doesn’t make since when you say Christians follow only the words of Paul. I do give away some money, but not all. The point of that story in acts was they sold a field and took a portion of that money and told the Church that it was 100 percent. It wasn’t hence that was what they did wrong.

  25. viridismonasteriense says:

@SpankbankINC Now, I’d rather follow the example of the man who Jesus himself holds in higher esteem, either fictional, real or a mere example of an attitude, a way of life symbolized in this man, the Good Samaritan, who actually did make a payment and expected nothing in return of the man he saved. If Jesus=God than he gave up nothing, no sacrifice, he himself gaining everything and then he makes us feel guilty for not accepting ‘payment’. I do not consider myself something to be merely bought!
