@crazyhasek3921
PS…Infinitis are nice though…just a shame that Customs wouldn’t? allow REAL Skylines in the USA…Just the slower G37 and the epic GT-R…
@crazyhasek3921
In other words, a slow Skyline. Elsewhere in the world the “G37” is a Skyline and has a lot more performance.
Only a fool would? buy a fake Skyline. :p
@Neonspinnazz30
2010 Infiniti G37x…so no? its not a minivan
Many Neighborhood NEVs have? doors like a smart, so does a VW Crossfox. And at a distance, a Yaris can be miconceived for a smart.
And yes, we have seen pictures of a fatal smart accident, mind you that it was a high speed crash (50mph+), the smart was stopped and was hit by a speeding conversion van (VERY HEAVY btw)
ANY car vs. 18-wheeler will lose!
(excluding that recent accident where the lorry was? pushing the thing somehow)
On the comment about getting laid…Lamborghini vs. smart…
smart dominated…
what is your? car? a minivan?
I realize that the Smart Cage is very strong, I would not hesitate to drive one. And? there are far less safe cars on the road than the smart… for sure. But anything can be crushed given enough stress. It depends on how its hit, and the speed, and the weights involved. I can promise you that my semi going 62.5MPH would crush a Smart car flat… just as it would crush just about anything else too. 80,000Lbs of truck at 62.5MPH = 5 Million pounds of force at impact.
@kens97sto171 There? have been cases of the Smart being hit by a much bigger car (or SUV) and the tridion safety cell remains in place without being crushed. I can’t post links in YouTube comments, but if you do a search on “Safe And Smart” you can read about the cases. … Please don’t assume that small car = minimum structure support. The IIHS tests show that the tridion safety cell is VERY strong.
If I hit a Smart Car with my 18 Wheeler would the Tridion Cell collapse? YES!! as would just about any car in the world. There is a big difference between a car hitting something all by itself and having another car hit it… when a car hits a wall.. only the Smarts own weight comes into play. When? another vehicle hits a car.. you have more to deal with. I am not trying to bash on Smarts.. I like them.. and they are safe. But a big SUV could crush the Trid cell.
Hey! I’ve had the smart car for more than a year starting last last June 08. Right now its actually in the shop b/c a dumb person was not paying attention and hit me really hard from the back when I was at a red light. I actually have a Toyota Yaris right now for a rental and believe me I feel safer in my smart car than this car. It is a great? car and gives awesome mileage. It is expensive for a small car compared to others for the same price. But I love it! I greatly recommend it!

Try being very specific where you saw the accident. By that I mean what was the name of the city it happened in *upstate NY* is a bit vague. Since you recall it so vividly, I’m certain that you would recall where you saw it, on what Highway, going what direction, etc. Oh maybe even the date? and time of day? Maybe then we can find out much more about this accident by contacting local law enforcement or first responders in the area. Smart owners are very skeptical rightly so!
The reason I don’t believe you is that it goes against all the other evidence that I’ve seen. US Government crash tests, IIHS crash tests, European Crash Tests, Smart Car Accident Crash Photos in the Smart Car Forum, and even a TV show where they crashed a Smart Car into a solid concrete wall at? 70 MPH. In EVERY case, the Smart Car’s tridion safety cell did NOT crush. An accident so violent that would crush the safety cell would kill and appear on the news reports, but there’s NOTHING said.
One of the doors was still intact, and it was DEFINITELY a smart. No doubt about it. No other car has doors like the smart. But you can believe whatever you want. Too bad you weren’t there to see it. You seem way too defensive almost? to the point of denial. Some day you will see pictures of a destroyed smart, safety cell and all. Until then, keep thinking whatever makes you feel good.
(1) Like many other people who see an accident photo with a small car, they assume it to be? a Smart Car, but upon closer examination, we see that the car is something else. So, it’s an unintentional but common error.
(2) The statement is a lie.
Because the Smart Car has the tridion safety cell, there’s no way an Armada could “crush” a Smart Car. Photos of Smart Car accidents posted on the Smart Car Forum always show the car’s safety cell intact.
Google: Smart Car Forum
for photos.
I don’t know what to tell you. Maybe the SUV hit the smart better than a wrecking ball…. who knows? All I can say for sure is that the smart was very much damaged, much more so than the Armada. I don’t know exactly what happened by looking at the accident, but it wasn’t pretty. I’m not sure if the smart? driver could survive that accident.
Sorry, I don’t have a “link” to the accident. I didn’t see it online or in the news, I saw it on the side of the road. Traffic was backed up for miles because so many people were rubbernecking, so I only know what I saw as I passed by. The car was clearly a smart as it unique door was still very recognizable. And the SUV was definitely an Armada which I know very? well. This happened in upstate NY. If you don’t believe it, then I guess there’s nothing else to discuss. Okay.
Your comment is a bit of a mystery to me:
(1) A search of all news reports for the past month does not show any accident between a Smart Car and a Nissan.
(2) The Smart Car was slammed into a solid concrete wall at 70 MPH. It was NOT crushed, in fact other crashes show the Safety Cell area of the Smart Car does not crush in an accident.
Do a YouTube Search? on “Smart Car Crash”
So what City and State was this “accident”?
Do you have a link to a news article or was it pure BS?
That makes littke sense Steven, smarts have hit and have been hit by larger vehicles and was able to keep most of its shape. And either way the Nissan would have a great amount of damage if it “crushed” a smart.
Not even a wrecking? ball could crush a smart. There’s a video of it somewhere on here.
Great test drive, can’t wait to feel the shfit for the first? time! =)
Still waiting to go to the dealer again…
I saw a wreck last week where one of these smarts got crushed by? a Nissan Armada. It wasn’t pretty, that’s for sure. I don’t know if the smart driver survived or not, but it certainly didn’t look good. The Nissan had a dented bumper grill and the hood buckled slightly. Personally, I’ll take safety over economy, but that’s just me.
Great video~! Shows how a novice tests out the smart and his impressions. Everyone who’s interested in smart ownership should research the vehicle thoroughly and make their own decision – and not listen to the yahoos who think everyone should be driving a giant truck or SUV . . . if you? only need to transport one or two people, smart is the best way to go~! Thanks for the video . . .
