consumer product recalls

Question by Utopian Friend: RE: Toy Recalls, Why are North Amercian Corporations & Manufacturers so Ignorant to the CYCLE OF ECONOMICS?

TIP: If you eliminate jobs through OUTSOURCING them to places like China, not only is the Safety Standards different to appalling, but these import products are targeting consumers that are the very people you made unemployed by outsourcing! How the heck are these people suppose to buy the very products they once made without the level of income they once enjoyed when they had a job with these corporations?
Logic isn’t their strong suit, but greed is their main motivator. Perhaps these RECALLS are coming back to bite the Corportations in the a**?
SIDE NOTE: The recalls are based on dangerous production from other countries, similar to Import FOOD/ Liquids/ or other personal products that all North Americans consumne. What’s to stop those who wish to Harm Westerners from contaminating any of these imported produce or products? Doesn’t this come under War Safety Strategies the way we responded to in WWII or the Cold War? Are Corporations putting their nations at risk for terrorism in a different form? This may not be just about economics & cost effectiveness.
Thought I’d throw that one out to you to ponder, as our food seems to be in the news a lot lately… EG: Bovine TB in AB. Canada, British bird flu outbreak (H5N1 virus), American E.coli in Spinach last year & many many more!

regarding this topic the US consumers have to put a real pressure on China (or Mattel or any other company who sells this kind of toy) to not produce anymore toys that are painted with a special paint that countains Lead. which is toxic at even low quantities and effects on children range from just a momentary distraction or bad feeling, to ,well, death.

but its your guess wether it is a “chinese” product. they were sold by Mattel at any Walmart, so i see basically as a (VERY) bad project of toy rather than a political issue.

Lala thats why Capitalism needs FREE democracy to work properly and everyone needs to participate on it as a citizen. the bad thing is that many just don’t.

I agree, but they are doing it because they are saving money which means that they are making more money…..isn’t that what capitalism is all about?

u are not thinking strait… ofc they want more profit…. and u make more profit by reducing operating costs.

The thing u have to ask yourself is not WHY they are doing this but UNTIL WHEN will they do this. Inevitably all the world is going to be developed like the western countries and wage difference will be infinitely small then… so moving production in another country won’t be an option anymore.. cause u won’t have any 3-rd world countries anymore.

Of course war is always a solution to get a country back to the stone age..:)

In this country, most companies have lost their sense of nationalism in favor of profits. Workers were and always will be commodities, as such you go for the cheapest and our government supports it. Thats what globalization is all about and thats what deregulation is all about – Greed!
