Question by Carter’s Mommy <3: Graco Stroller Recall?!?

So I am watching the news and there is a recall on a Graco stroller for all that use those. Here is a link http://www.wxyz.com/dpp/money/consumer/recalls/4-deaths-prompt-graco-stroller-recall-wcpo1287572194089. Is anyone else sick of all these recalls on baby products recently?
It’s not that I’m sick that companies are recalling products that need to be fixed, it’s just there are so many in the past month or so. I agree this one is because the the stupidity of the parents, who doesn’t strap their child in in their seat? It’s just there has been so many.

All of the recalled stroller were made before 2007. Just an FYI so people don’t start panicking.
And yes I am pretty sick of the recalls.

Here is the thing with recalls… Most of the “problems” are due to people either not supervising their child or not using the product correctly.

“This notice is meant to inform consumers of a potential risk of entrapment to small children, especially to infants younger than 12 months of age who are not properly harnessed in the stroller.”

… Not properly harnessed in the stroller. I have a Maclaren Volo stroller and it got recalled awhile ago because children were getting their fingers pinched in it. My son isn’t allowed to play with his stroller and I ensure no hands and fingers are on/by it when opening and closing it. It’s common sense.

I saw that this morning. I am lucky to have a stroller not affected by the recall (2008 model) but I agree that a lot of issues with recalls are due to misuse of the product. Thank you for sharing the information, I hope this recall serves to educate parents about the potential risk involved in not properly strapping their children into the seat.

No, I am not sick of recalls. I am glad that companies are taking the steps to fix the issues or replace the products! They can not possibly perceive every possible problem before a product is put into practical use.

In the case of THIS recall, the injuries/deaths were the result of parents not using the restraint straps and the child sliding down. Either way, this was dangerous because they were going to either get caught (as they did) or fall out (imagine that in a busy intersection?). The fault is that of the parents and NOT of the product.

I have one of these strollers, I have already ordered the repair kit- however, I have loved the stroller, still love the stroller and will still use the stroller between now and the time the repair kit arrives and is put on, because I have the common sense to use the seat belt!

I do not have a graco stroller but yes all these recalls are rediculous.

Its the way people are using them that make them dangerous, honestly. If you dont know how to properly put your child in the carriage with using the harness, then you shouldnt be using the carriage and you need to take a parenting class or ask people for help.

Some people just dont use there common sense, and little things like not thinking first cvan be very harmful to their children, but it surely doesnt mean the product isnt safe. I know so many mothers that put there children forward facing in car seats before the child is even one year old. That really aggravates and i try talking to them but they dont want to hear it because its there child or because they feel its safe because the child weighs enough. I think its wrong! But apparently thats none of my business.

    Sorry about the rambling.
