Did God design humans to fail? How does a perfect creator create a flawed product?

Question by The Son of Man: Did God design humans to fail? How does a perfect creator create a flawed product?

A perfect creator would create a perfect product. Given the fact that we are flawed, what other conclusion is there than that the flaw was intentional?

If you’re going to drag in free will in answer to this question, try to at least build a semi-coherent argument around it.
Kevin of Nine: it was a one-time joke response to a joke question. I didn’t mean for it to become your life motto.
Towelie: “they blew it.” > how is that perfect?

Aha!! There is another explanation for a “perfect” Creator creating an imperfect creation.

HE ISNT PERFECT. Thus, isnt God.

Uh, Towlie – if Adam and Eve blew it, then they WERE NEVER PERFECT!

I’m going to find a way to shoot you in the face over the internet. with science.

**oh, ok. maybe I was sensitive last night. I thought you didn’t get it.

Oh, pump, you ‘stole’ my question!! I was going to ask this later on!!

I agree with you completely – so many humans are flawed that god can’t be much of a designer can he??

Ergo – there is no designer.

EDIT to Towelieban Barbie – if Adam and Eve were perfect, how could they have blown it??? Illogical.

  3. Towelieban Barbie says:

The only perfect man and woman who ever lived were Adam and Eve. But of course you know, they blew it.

They will invariably bring up “free will”… but the question remains… what kind of PERFECT creation uses their free will to sabotage themselves, to disobey the relatively straightforward and simple commands doled out by their creator?

And remember, we’re talking about *PERFECT* creations, here, not the flawed messes we’re all supposed to be. Adam & Eve, PERFECT, and apparently despite their perfection use free will to completely screw themselves over.

  5. Adonai says:

The Creator you speak of is Perfect in your mind by Origin.
    This is your creation.

“God” is much, has been us and is now creating much.

Your ideas of creating a flaw are distorted as your perceptions of “flaw” are purhaps “His” perception of allowing your growth”.

Consider “God”, Jesus and so on as havingt already done what we are now doing; in order to find that very concept of “God” we must walk that same path…

To “argue” as you say would require more time than allowed and more space than this page can afford.

Perfection, as you say, “just did not happen” I agree with you in the sense “God” as a concept, is perfect. I would argue simply: isen’t it plain to see “God” was once one of us, Spiritually”…

“God” is a huge issue to argue.

  6. Flipper says:

Who is to say we are not perfect? How would you define perfect?? What “fact” do you have that we are flawed?

How can you say that the way we are living our lives is not EXACTLY the way we are supposed to be living, thus, we are perfect?!

Given the circumstances (the environment, our human abilities and reason and yes, free will), what makes you think that this isn’t the perfect way to live?

    Don’t generalize.

God Almighty did not want pets or robots, He did not make mankind as such. Almighty God made mankind in His image, He imbued us all with a sense of His presence and existence in our hearts, souls, and minds…but Almighty God wanted mankind to love Him by choice, not by command, so He risked rejection by imbuing all mankind with “free will” and gave mankind “choice”.

Okay, personal example to support God’s words and promises. My husband and I decided that we wanted children to love, share, and raise together. We were blessed with three healthy, thriving babies. We loved them and wanted them from the moment of conception, at birth, and during their growing years. We loved them, taught them, & reared them to the best of our abilities to be responsible, honest, hard-working, loving adults. It was not always easy; it was not always smooth-sailing, but our love for them never faltered. And thankfully none of them has ever turned their backs on us. None of them has ever rejected our love, our care, and our desire to maintain fellowship with them.
    But they could have.

And that is the private fear/risk that parents to be live with before their child is born, while it is growing up, and after it becomes an adult.

The possibility for heartbreak should that child that you have always wanted, always loved, always cared for, always nurtured, always provided for, and always protected to the best of your ability…reject you and dismiss you from their lives.

There are those parents whose fear of rejection is so great and over-powering that they decide not to risk the potential for heartbreak/rejection and do not have children.

Yet Almighty God knowing the inherent risks far better than mere human beings ever could STILL risk heartbreak and rejection it for you and for me.

Sorry to distract from your explanations,

Can a bridge hold up without tension?
Can a coal be a Diamond without Pressure?

Perfection is not give or take, it has to be achieved.
If God expect man to fail, Jesus Christ’s atonement would not be necessary.

    Jesus taught:
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
    (New Testament | Matthew 5:48)

39 For behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.
(Pearl of Great Price | Moses 1:39)

I, like everybody else, want to give a voice to my own special opinion in response to your serious question. Actually, I admire your frank ability to bring forth such relevant questions that most lack the boldness to ask! Heck, I dare say that you would ask the same darn questions with the same darn enthusiasm on your judgment day! And why not!!
You just might get the special tour that most don’t get to see…. whether that’s good or bad remains to be seen. But darn interesting, nonetheless…
Well, just to be on the safe side, let’s do a few good deeds along the way while we got the chance…whaddaya say?
My choices are to be kind to children, animals and the FedEx guy (random, I know) but ya just never know through whose eyes you are being watched…..
    Peace.
