The argument for Irrelevant Design

Hurry up and repent!!! For Christmas is just around the corner! The merry times are upon us!!! An overactive imagination is no sufficient substitute for actual evidence. Oh, and remember, God’s like a fart. Just because you can’t see him doesn’t mean he’s not there, and God ALSO results in devastation wherever he goes as well.

Santa is real, he just needs more money.

Great video! I don’t think I’ve ever seen it being put that clear. I hate Christians who actually think these arguements work on me – why would they!? But worse than this is when they actually try and convince you with Bible verses. HELLO!! If you want to convince an atheist with the Bible you first have to prove to him that the Bible is a reliable source of information! And so far everyone who’s tried doing that to me has failed.

Great video, just be warned, there is a movement of crazies out there who try to trash this argument by saying that your betrayal by your parents telling you santa was real once is the reason you chose atheism today, and try to push the idea that a “Santa Claus Syndrome” is turning people atheist. You get mad when your parents lied to you about Santa, so it makes you refuse to believe anything they tell you, including God.

Frankly, they are the ones with a Santa Claus Syndrome, as you proved.

@mcuster73 Basically, pagans celebrated on the winter solstice because of how hard it was to survive the winter in many places without our modern conveniences. For example, the Vikings had the holiday of Yule at this time to celebrate nature enduring the winter. Guess what the pagan symbol of nature’s endurance of winter was? The evergreen. Wreaths and trees and branches of evergreen trees (aka Christmas trees) were brought into the house to try to imbue the family with that survival.

  5. archon099 says:

@mcuster73 It wasn’t called the feast of John the Baptists until AFTER John the Baptist had a feast on that day, genius. The summer solstice has ALWAYS fallen on that day, since before Christians tried to over-write history with their own ideas.

Yes, the first three holidays he’s debunking being truly religious are NOT religious in their original design. Christianity tried to over-write anything other cultures used for worship, especially pagan cultures.

  6. GTA4114 says:

Well you never did disprove the flying spaghetti monster. You said it sounded ridiculous. Guess what else sounds ridiculous: the flying imaginary man who creates everything/god

  7. GTA4114 says:

Wow. You have no proof on your side, and most holidays werent religious, religion just tries to control everything by taking it over

Another good one, keep up the videos!

  9. sabertooth1980 says:

Don’t make me get the Taser. See, Christmas was once known as Yule. Look it up.
    Yule-tide… Yule-log…. Yule?

  10. mcuster73 says:

    cool, i’m bored with this.

  11. Ibis333 says:

Easter is a celebration of the Spring Equinox. We know this *for sure*. I.e. “the cycles of nature and the agricultural year” which is what I said originally. The fact that Pagan religion was more directly influenced by these cycles with respect to their mythology is a moot point.

    Moron.

  12. Ibis333 says:

I guess I have to spell it out for you, ignoramus: Christmas i.e holiday on December 25 is related to Winter Solstice NOT some 2 bit cult leader on the fringe of the Roman Empire
New Year’s also related to Winter Solstice

    Idiot.

  13. mcuster73 says:

and many people believe that its Jesus or Attis they were originally associating easter with, nobody knows for sure, they are both religions.

  14. mcuster73 says:

If you realize, i said CHIRSTMAS!!!! Not New Years, New years and christmas are two completely different things dumb fuck. Read what i say, then argue with me you blind fuck, go eat some damn carrots, maybe that will help you see things clearer. I already knew why new years is a holiday, a fucking 5 year old would know that, we can all tell that you would have had to of been the valedictorian of your high school, lmao…you are by far the biggest idiot I’ve argued with.

  15. Ibis333 says:

I mean the 1st calends of the first month after the solstice. Easter is still named after a Pagan goddess!!! Do you think they picked JtB’s feast day out of a hat? Or maybe Yahweh came down & emblazoned June 24th on the Vatican calendar with flashing neon arrows? Duh.

  16. Ibis333 says:

Your ignorance makes me laugh. Just because a bunch of Christians decided to name an ancient holiday after their own god or saint or whatever the fuck, doesn’t mean that the holiday is actually related to their religion. There are very few purely Christian holidays (i.e. 1s that they did not appropriate).
As for Xmas & New Year’s: you are the dumb ass, jerk off. Try picking up a history book sometime. New Year is Jan 1st because it is 1st day (calends) after the solstice in the Roman calendar.

  17. mcuster73 says:

I don’t have to prove to you my beliefs, they are mine for a reason. I’ve seen things and felt things that can only be explained by that.

  18. mcuster73 says:

Umm, christmas isn’t a part of new years, Christ mas. Just because ones right ofter the other doesn’t make it the same dumbass. Easter is a religious based holiday too. FEAST OF JOHN THE BAPTIST, why would they call it that? you dumb mother fucker. Your first 3 holidays are all religious….???? so not sure what you are saying here bud.

  19. Ibis333 says:

Umm. Most holidays are related to the Earth’s natural cycles, the agricultural year, or historical events. Let’s see:
    Christmas/New Year’s = winter solstice (in N latitudes)
    Easter/Passover = spring equinox
Feast of John the Baptist = summer solstice
July 4th (for Americans) = commemoration of declaration of independence
    Michaelmas = fall equinox
    Halloween = autumn slaughter
    Remembrance Day = WWI armistice
    Thanksgiving = autumn harvest

There are but a few holidays purely based on religion.

  20. burningeko says:

so you agree that saying “i believe something exists, without any proof of evidence and you have to disprove it” is a stupid argument?
Santa doesn’t exist. he is a construct, made to fool children & make them believe in something that isn’t there.
by proof i mean you have to show why you believe in god, you can’t just say because i do.
i can’t “disprove gods existence” until you tell me what i am trying to disprove. i can’t do that if you don’t show me in some way how god exists.

  21. mcuster73 says:

I see how ridiculous your argument is. Flying spaghetti monster? hmm….okay. Santa doesn’t exist because every present you get has been paid for by parents, girlfriend, or family. Thats a stupid thing to even say? The reason for my beliefs in god are the things i have seen and felt. Things that cannot be explained by anything other than that, in my opinion. I don’t give a shit about what science says, scientists NEED proof to believe anything is even plausible. Which is stupid in my opinion.

  22. burningeko says:

there is absolutely zero evidence that you can show me that proves the flying spaghetti monster doesn’t exist. do you see how ridiculous this argument is?
the burden of proof lies on the shoulders of the one making the claim for existence.
please give me evidence for gods existence. I really would like to debate this

  23. mcuster73 says:

How can you compare god with santa claus? You are a complete fool! you do realize almost every single holiday that you “celebrate” is related to religion or faith? You are a fucking moron philosophobia, your ignorance pisses me off…there is ABSOLUTELY ZERO evidence that you can offer to me that GOD does not exist, all you do is attack other peoples beliefs and values, really your life has to be lonely and pathetic kid. Anyone who attacks someone else’s beliefs like this is PATHETIC.

  24. anglaismoyen says:

    BLASPHEMY!!!!… is awesome!!!

  25. TotalFuckingAsshoIe says:

I am literally in awe at how ridiculous and perverted you’ve just exposed religion to be. Incredibly well done.
