FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –- June 22, 2010 – United Pet Group, Cincinnati, Ohio is voluntarily recalling all unexpired lots of its PRO-PET ADULT DAILY VITAMIN Supplement tablets for Dogs due to possible Salmonella contamination. The Food and Drug Administration is aware of this recall.
The product was sold nationally at various retailers. The product comes in 100-count white plastic bottles with a light blue label, and UPC code 26851-01800. These products are being removed from retail stores and consumers should immediately stop feeding these supplements to their pets. The affected products are those with expiration dates on or before “06/13”. The expiration date can be found imprinted vertically on the right side of the product label.
Laboratory testing has revealed that one Lot of this vitamin product was contaminated with Salmonella. The company is recalling all unexpired Lots of the product out of an abundance of caution.
Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.
People who handle dry pet food and/or treats can become infected with Salmonella, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the chews or any surfaces exposed to these products. Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.
Consumers who have purchased the product are urged to contact United Pet Group or the place of purchase for further direction. Consumers may contact United Pet Group at 1-800-645-5154 ext. 3, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm EST.

Oops sorry haha, I don’t use this brand so I didn’t read the whole thing, just skimmed it, didn’t realize it was a vitamin!

I keep two on-
One has her license and a tag with my cell number and her name on it.
The other is what she gets tied to. So if she slips her collar (since she’s tied when no one is around), she still has ID on her.

Yes, I keep collars on my dogs. I am always concerned in case they manage to get off the property, I want people to see them and know they have a home.

Legit – (Although I think your original post should be considered legit); no, my dogs don’t wear collars around the house unless we’re going out soon. The reason is because even if they have their buckle collars on, I’ve seen and heard of too many bad accidents happening and dogs getting choked when nobody’s home to save them.
Yes. For one, if she becomes lost under whatever circumstances, she has ID tags. Two, it’s la lot more convenient to keep a collar on her at all times then having to put it on her only when we go for a walk every day.
Although I do not think a vitamin supplement is Dog Food it is good for people to know that a product is being recalled. My dog has a collar and tag in at all times and when we go for walks she has her other collar and leash.

LG: Yes. It has all their tags on them, and they could both jump our backyard fence if they ever felt like it. They never actually have. (Well Holly did by accident once, she looked back at us, freaking out, because she had no idea how she got in the neighbor’s yard). I would rather be safe than sorry though. They are rarely even outside without me being out there too, though… AND Apollo is microchipped, I’ve just seen too many questions on here where people find dogs on the street that don’t have tags and don’t even bother taking them to the vet to microchip them… and then they keep them… THAT’S NOT HAPPENING TO MY DOG!
I don’t give supplements to my dogs as they are fed a very high quality diet but it seems the recalls are happing alot again..Kinda scary
Legit.Only my GSD has a collar on.my others that are long haired do not as it tangles the neck hair.Only on walks do I use them then I take them off.
My dogs all keep their collars on 24/7 but not for ID purposes. My dogs are all chipped I don’t put tags with personal info on it because if one of my dogs do happen to get lost i stolen i would rather not have a thief come and rob me or maybe kill me and steal any more of my dogs.

Legit: Collars with tags on 24/7 and microchipped. There is no guarantee a dog will not get out of a fenced yard (only out when someone is home) or out of a house. Sh*t happens. I want my dogs back quickly!!

Yes all four of my dogs have their collars on 24/7, , with rabies, name tags, and they are all micro-chipped as well..,…..except for Demon
I do take off Demons Collar at night, he will not settle down in bed till it is off of him…and then when he gets up, back on, and funny he will lay around on the couch or in the recliner and sleep with them on, but not the bed…so spoiled.
Oh God. I live in Ohio. Apparently so do a lot of dumbasses because many problems have been going on here recently.
Yes, i do keep collars on my dogs, so that if they run away- they can be returned, besides the microchip way of course. Also, I need them to walk them, except for the small dogs, they have harnesses.
