I am growing out my highlights &#038; going back to my natural color, but want to lighten it a bit. I used to use lemon juice and layout, but not much sun these days. Does the lemon really work to lighten hair? As I recall, it would add red highlights to my dark brown hair. If I put a heat cap on will it activate the lemon properties?
