JCUT 3040 Laser Cutter Demo

Jeri and Monty share how to use the JCUT 3040 laser cutter at the NW Nerd Lab.

When Mount Nyiragongo erupted in the Democratic Republic of Congo in January 2002 it seemed like a disaster. Molten lava plunged down the hillside and poured…

Great video. Maybe I should Google this, but why can’t you laser cut Lexan (polycarbonate)? It was mentioned in the start that? you can’t. I’m hoping to cut very thin polycarbonate with my future purchase. 🙂

  2. willer2k says:

Hey! Awesome explanation/demonstration! You mentioned that you can etch on metal, can you use it to cut sheet? metal to?

    Thank You! 🙂

  3. Christopher Jones says:

And by the? way. Fuck you! Airsoft fag.

  4. Christopher Jones says:

Stupid fucking question deserves a stupid fucking answer. You can? make plastic cut out dolls with this P.O..S That’s about the extent of it.

  5. romeprince11 says:

    you dumb fuck
i was clearly asking if the machine is? able to do that
not asking you how much it would cost to have a factory. grammar bitch

  6. Christopher Jones says:

I haven’t seen anything like this? since I saw a zoo-keeper put an abacus in a monkey cage. Ya! Stick that mirror in there! What’s the worst that can happen?

  7. Johann Swart says:

You should superimpose a visible laser pointer onto the beam with a beam splitter? somewhere in the optical path, so you can always see where the cutter laser beam is at. Helps with positioning etc.

  8. TGPadm says:

    awsome?

  9. adracamas says:

Sketchup Pro can but it has a $495? price tag attached.

  10. MyMPPM says:

We recently received our laser cutter and so desperately needed general and specific information about the machine that was not available from the manufacturer, your video actually addressed some of my concerns.

If you have a desire to make additional laser cutter tutorial I would sincerely appreciate if you addressed the following:

    1) safety
    2) cleaning and maintenance
    3) laser tube care
    4) designing patterns and files
    5) speed and power setting
    6) gas, smoke, dirt,? and dust removal

Hi I got a question, is it possible to cut polystyrene foams without? melting them?

  12. romeprince11 says:

could u use a laser cutter to create? the outer shell of an airsoft gun?

  13. pmgodfrey says:

This is why I’ll end up buying an Epilog laser cutter instead of? a cheap chinese machine.

  14. jeriellsworth says:

No problems at all. ? I use it a lot.

  15. bitmerge6502 says:

i so need one of these! there’s got to be a DIY? solution.

  16. jeriellsworth says:

It works with the DXF and a few other file formats. I’m not sure if sketchup can export these.?

  17. Wade Pederson says:

Hey, great video! I was considering a JCUT-1216, do you? know if it can work with Google Sketchup? And if you had it to do over again, would you still have gotten yours?

  18. kerrycavan says:

Wow! A 60 watt laser? Back in the old days when, I worked with lasers,? the mere thought of something like that reflecting off something in an unplanned fashion would keep me out of the lab! Laser goggles or not! But, back then (the 1980’s) a 60 watt laser would have cost a mint and not lasted very long. Have fun, be safe.

  19. TheSolarmike says:

You guys are great! I have about 20 power vent blower motors from hot water tanks if you need better pressure (2″? of water.c) I want to make a fiber laser. For better efficiency. I use primarily photovoltaic energy to build everything

  20. VanMedia says:

how do u use a laser cut?? u specify the parameters and auto cut according to what you set?

  21. jeriellsworth says:

Yes, but you’ll have to make sure it’s ventilated well. Kinda? smelly.

  22. cent dp says:

can this cut styrene? up? to .125 thick? Im very interested in one these lasers

  23. Donovan clark says:

you should look in? to maker bot. a 3d printer.
    go to makerbot

  24. xfilespreacher says:

Hello, whats the name of the website you mention on the video, cant make it out. The one where you got your files.
    Cheers

extremely well said. they have the funds but prefer to mooch foreign aid.?

  26. willd3rbeast says:

They say only millions of dollars to remove the gas in the lake. I would say millions of? dollars, even if it reaches 100 million or more is a small price to pay for 2 million lives. It just goes to show that the governments of the world just don’t give a shit about these people.

  27. HatoHammer says:

yes i mean it, this is really fantastic. and i can tell u,? it’s way easier than i thought do a few surveys and boom a few $100 extra in your bank every week. its worth a try here: bit.ly/Zip4hR?=nitku

I am happy I am inteligent enough? to know what was the cause of this before this video even explained it

  29. tredzwater says:

Ridiculous! Life is NOT a test. Life is.

The only “purpose” of any life form is to breed. That’s it. Once you do that, you are expendable. Your species doesn’t need you. You can die and Earth won’t even notice.

You didn’t answer my question. If a god deliberately created humans and put them? on this planet, why would he choose a planet where his “chosen people” could only live on 15% of it? Why tell them to “multiply” when he KNEW there wasn’t enough land?

Not a very intelligent god, is he?

Youtube? is messing with my posts again.

  32. DerangedDragon99 says:

Look here, Dummy. Plants take in Carbon Dioxide, and give off Oxygen. The process is called: Photosynthesis. Plants convert CO2 into C and O2. Plants give off the O2, but keep the C, as part of what plants need for food. Next time get all the facts before you? call some one an Idiot – Dummy!

  33. bernie carpstinkenson says:

Life is? a Test,,,you maybe Failing Say Yess ???

  34. tredzwater says:

Why would a god give the humans, claimed to be his special creatures, a planet where those humans can only live on 15% of it?

Your god gave you a planet 85% waste, as far as you’re concerned. NOT? a particularly intelligent design.

  35. Antigonus Monophtalmos says:

It is dumb to store CO2. CO2 is consumed by plants and generate food which benefits us. Burning coal? is beneficial 2-fold, since it feeds the trees (empirical studies) and trees feed us. The concentrations here are astronomical you scum.
H20 is poisonous if ingested in huge quantities. The recent tsunami proves that too much H2O emissions can kill.Control H2O emissions.
You are a retard. Put your head in H2O and die.

  36. joxskater says:

    stupid? inderd

  37. kurtilein3 says:

    idiot.

Responsible people dont put out large quantities of CO2, because it doesnt feed trees, it poisons out atmosphere.

People that are a bit less responsible but not complete douchebags will not allow a powerplant to emit CO, because it can SO EASILY be catalytically converted into CO2. and CO, compared to CO2, is orders of magnitude more problematic, and really toxic.

you? really are an idiot for implying CO2 is “tree food”, and therefore not to blame for climate change and harmless.

  38. DerangedDragon99 says:

Clean the particulate matter from the smoke of a coal power plant, and you can release the CO2 to feed the trees, so they will give off O2. Actually, though, coal fired power plants don’t produce CO2; they produce CO (Carbon Monoxide).
CO2 is Carbon Dioxide, the? air humans breathe out.

  39. Física Umce says:

yes, i couldn’t believe it when my friend told me? about this site. the thing is, i’ve been getting paid about $200 a week just for letting brands know what i prefer to buy. i found it here: bit.ly/Y4OQqu?=dyqwp

  42. finn bell says:

who cares? about those people anyway?

  43. kurtilein3 says:

maybe you should have watched a bit longer. its about CO2 and methane, not hydrogen sulfide.?

  44. tlester4130 says:

    H2s, not CO2…?

  45. tlester4130 says:

23 seconds in? and I solved the mystery.
    Hydrogen Sulfide, H2S

  46. Dwaine Hartman says:

    h2s? not co2

  47. greasyzach says:

@ James Roberson … yeah because earthquakes and sinkholes never, ever? happen. just put all the toxins underground where they’ll be safe forever.

  48. rescyou says:

Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) gas is the rotten egg component which is usually a product of volcanic action or decaying material. C02 produces a white fog when it is released quickly or changes states. Check out some vids on Dry Ice and you can see the effect of state change or find a vid on a co2 fire? extinguisher discharge.
