Question by edward mann: Do Jews think that God made a fundamental design fault with the foreskin?

Do they think that they know better than God on this issue?
Thanks for your replies. What we are actually talking about his is genital mutilation. I think people who allow this to be done to their children should be arrested for assault. How could any loving parent inflict pain on their child for no good reason? And there is no good reason!! How about you female posters, how would you feel if your parents forced it on you, and yes, it does happen!

Obviously. Honestly? It takes away sensitivity so there will be less enjoyment. It’s akin to the horrible clitorectomies that are performed on young women without anesthesia in many 3rd world countries. Torture.

When a man’s penis is hard, you would never know they weren’t circumcised. I personally believe that our creator wanted us to enjoy making love to each other and getting excited about it. There is much less excitement when the protective covering is gone. Rubbing inside underwear or pants without the foreskin to protect it, makes the sensitivity much less.

Did you know that some little boys take a few years to really get over the circumcision experience. If your little baby boy is grumpy as phuc for a few years after circumcision, it’s because the stupid doctors believe they don’t feel that pain. They are full of crap. They feel it very much so.

Our creator would not have designed all of our lovely men and boys with it had it not had a purpose. And for all you women, young or old? As long as they shower everyday, it’s not dirty either.

No. The reason circumsicion began was that God wanted to show Abraham’s posterity and followers were the “Chosen People”. They were Holy, and “holy” means, “apart from the rest”, so God asked them to do something that would make them stand out from everyone else.

Of course not, they were just getting rid of something that they thought they could do better without and the foreskin was repulsive to them, just like leg and armpit air are to girls. We remove them by painful methods like plucking but and we’d be extremely grateful if it never grew back.
It has nothing to do with thinking your know better than God.

Its a ritual. Like Christains getting batized.

I enjoy your point, quite correct.I was mutilated too so I dont know which is better, with the foreskin or the what I got now. I hope I could tell the difference.

God commanded Abraham and all those after him to be circumcised to show their commitment to Him. It’s quoted in the bible in Genesis that all boys on the 8th day shall be circumcised. It is symbolic of your commitment to God.

With the dangers of circumcision …scarring, too much flesh removed making erection difficult or impossible, sometimes infection making the removal of the entire penis necessary in extreme cases(not that rare)not to mention the pain and unknown emotional damage it causes to some people. I think it is just a bad and dangerous practise, and the idea of letting people do it just because it was done to them is not pleasant, tradition is not a good enough reason, for hygeine it’s better to wash daily as we all can nowadays.

Why not a nice little tattoo or something, leave children’s genitals alone, it is abusive to mutilate a child who cannot give consent. Female circumcision is barbaric but still happens, both these practices should be stopped.

    God makes us perfect.
Cutting off the foreskin is a sign of the covenant between G-d and the Jewish people. Muslims do it also, by the way.
A brit mila (Jewish ritual circumsion) is performed by someone who is well trained, and on the eighth day after birth. No one remembers it.
I have never heard any claim that it makes sex less pleasurable.

Female genital mutilation is not the same as circumsion. Female genital mutilation would be like cutting off a man’s penis.

  8. clueless_clown says:

I think that the theology behind it is that foreskin is good… for 8 days.

Physical circumcision is a sign of God’s Covenant with Israel.

All of God’s Covenants were with Israel.

    Salvation is of the Jews.

Spiritual circumcision of the heart is the goal.

Well in response to your reply I dont think its genital mutilation. It’s a procedure, that shouldnt be done routinely, only as a last case scenario. Like gangrene. Your arm is turning green and will affect the rest of your body unless you cut it off. Others get sliced because they cant retract, Which I dont think its an excuse. The skin is made for stretching.
