At least it’s just precautionary, but scary nonetheless.

“Stuff happens.”

What a great attitude to have! 🙂

Answer by Baby boy arrived March 7th!
Hence the reason I planted a large garden this past weekend to give our son as much home made and organic produce as I can. At least if I grow it in my garden I KNOW there are no pesticides used!! We have 2 apple trees that are covered in blossoms so he will get his fill of home made apple sauce too! Thanks for posting the link!

Yeah, my sister just had her baby 3 weeks ago and doesn’t wanna give it any packaged food she has a baby bullet and recipe book which is what I would recommended its like a little mini magic bullet and it comes with storage containers

And veggies and eggs and meats from the grocery store get recalled from samonella, and e. coli, etc. And the neighbors cat can leave a dead bird in your personal garden so its corpse can infect your home garden.

    Stuff happens.

Let’s not forget that the ultimate homemade baby food is breastmilk. Never subject to recall.

  4. Tori Anderson says:

I agree that making your own is the way to go, because it’s fresh, more nutritious and tastes more similar to the fresh food that most families are *hopefully* feeding their kids later in life.

BUT, remember that anything can be re-called, not just pre-packaged foods. Del Monte recalled 5000 cartons of fresh canteloupes a couple of months ago, multiple people (including children) died of salmonella before the spinach re-call in 2008, there have been multiple re-calls on tomatoes over the past few years. Even meat and dairy get recalled frequently.

Kind of sad that people need a re-call to think about stuff like this.. my son hasn’t had any packaged baby foods, i make all of his from scratch – most of which comes from my own garden.

That’s a personal choice i made because im my own opinion that is the best way and i want to be sure im feeding him the best, and you cant really know that if you feed them from a jar of the supermarket shelf. But even so, that recall was about the jar itself, not the food. So theres nothing to say what homemade baby food is being stored in is any safer. People just need to let others make their own choices and stop trying to tell everyone else that their way is the only way… mistakes and mishaps happen regardless of the preparation environment, fact of life.
