How do I get started in freelance photography/graphic design?

Question by bigbrighthearts: How do I get started in freelance photography/graphic design?

I like to think that for being so young, that I have pretty discernable photography and photoshop skills. I have worked for several photographers for about 4 years now, since I was 15. I don’t want to go into business for myself, but I would like to somehow break into the business. I know these are stupid questions, but I am terribly excited and confident in myself. Any suggestions would be extremely appreciated.

Talk to the photographers you have worked with, they know you better than I do. Ask them for direction and if you can pick up some of their overflow. Then start contacting other photographers and graphic designers and printers.

Yes, why not ask the photographers you worked for? You could get a lot better information from them than you could here. You have a goldmine of information that you are ignoring.
