Tacoma Narrows Bridge Collapse (1940) (Sound Version)
Posted by James on September 29, 2014 · 25 Comments
In November, 1940, the newly completed Tacoma Narrows Bridge, opened barely four months before, swayed and collapsed in a 42 mile-per-hour wind. There were n…
Like if Ninjabride 7 brought you here… ROFL
“If you think this is bad, you should see the Pokemon bridge.”
*screams*
Box: FUCKING SUCKS!!?
? ?????? ??? ??? ??? ???????? ???????
All because of Oscillation.?
Poor dog?
It was not resonance but a flutter instability – entirely different
phenomena. Same thing happens to aircraft wings.?
Several things about this video don’t seem realistic.
A. nobody is panicking, including the guy on the bridge
B. the bridge looks like it’s made of rubber
C. the driver is stopped on the bridge for the majority of the video
instead of trying to drive it the hell off
D. there just happened to be a high quality video camera on site. This is
1940; there weren’t exactly any smart phones?
For those who are aware, the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge had the same tendency
to sway in a heavy wind. In 1943, stiffening trusses were added to the
bridge to stabilize it. These trusses have since been removed and a fairing
has been put in its place.?
I’d never bail on my doggy. ?
I would like to make something that is allowed and supposed to respond in
this way. ?
wow EXACTLY why armies ‘BREAK STEP’ when approaching a bridge …. sound
and rhythm do more damage than you can imagine !!!
Think jack hammer on rock and an opera singer breaking a glass?
your bridge collapsed cuz you built it in the middle of a fucking tornado?
whats the name of the song in the background??
I’m just 17 years old. And my physics sent me to here. ?
Guys it has nothing to do with how strong the wind was or wasn’t. Or if it
was built weak or to strong.
Simply the frequency of the air matched the natural frequency of the
bridge, causing the bridge to massively swing like this. Resonance, my
friends, read about it. ?
kanavillani. Haaveissa on itselläni saada Full HD 3D videokamera, jolla
sitten kuvaisin viimeisen päälle tarkasti useita kohteita
Rovaniemi-Sodankylä välillä uudelleen.
Mustavalkoisuus ja 2D on silti itselleni miellyttävä kombinaatio. Luo
tunnelmaa ja nostalgiaa.
Tacoma Narrows Bridge Collapse (1940) (Sound Version)?
I wish news today sounded like this
Real
hey i saw this in my physics class an like apparently theres a myth about a
dog bein in the car that was left on the bridge when it collapsed…does
anyone know if this is true?!
What a dumb post, if you have nothing smart to say or don’t know anything
about the subject than just don’t say anything.
